Gower v Evans

Who comes in for Peni round 1 .

For me Gower still offers a heap more than Evans,

smarter , offloads and still makes good yardage.

  • I would like to see Ray Stone get an opportunity again but being round 1 Id say Brad Arthur will go with experience and put in Gower. Evans is too unpredictable for me whereas Gower is sound and stable.

    • I tend to agree Monto, I was not impressed with the short stint the Evans had against Penrith in the trial match, I would say that with the lose of Oto and Ma'u, now Terepo the likes of Gower and Kafusi are very much a gimme for the replacement spots, along with Alvaro off the bench, Smith is likely as utility to cover for Mahoney and the backline. If Stone is picked, he's likely to be instead of Smith as he has played in the 9 spot before and also lock would be his spot with Brown going to the 2nd row or Prop

  • I don’t mind ray but being round 1 I think your right, experience is the key .

  • Oregon Kaufusi for mine

  • Yeah but with Will Smith on the bench

    and replacing like with like

    I would go with Evans

    Penrith have a big pack

  • Gower or Evans, oh dear God, is this what the club has been reduced to.

  • It has to be Jane Evans or Oregon Kaufusi.

I much prefer Gower as a player generally,  but not to play prop. Not to mention,  Gower doesnt have any raw aggression and I think we are going to need it. We will only have Brown and Nuikore bringing it.

  • Additionally, I just noticed that Panthers have bought Frank Winterstein from Manly to fill Kikau's shoes. He is no Kikau, but he is massive and pretty handy. We are going to need size and agression to combat the Panthers pack.

  • Gower is a better player so its him or Oregen i cant see Evans near the squad

    • Yep, Evans has done nothing to put himself in the frame for selection. Piss poor trial effort. I thought for a couple of games late last year the effort was back, but seemed to dissappear in the trials. Cant reward him for that. Gower is too small for prop but will play his heart out.

Good question. I'm not sure. Has a mental health assessment been made or is V'landy's offering a strong personal opinion?
