As you've heard today, Gould has declined an offer to consult to the Cowboys coaching staff.
He was fairly interested in prospect, however on closer inspection he said today "they'll have to dig their own way out"
I might be having a "captain obvious" moment here, but my hunch is that he got up there, smelt the culture, probably sounded out a few players as well as the coaching staff and got wind that it's a bloody mess.
He's a cluey bloke Gould and he would not want to take the risk of tarnishing his super coach reputation by attaching himself in anyway shape or form to a basket case.......the BIG sidestep from P.Gould.
So........my humble hunch is that I can realistically see more "rats" fleeing the ship...Webb has already jumped off, and it would not surprise me if Tonga has had a gut full and wants out, and who knows if it really is that much of a mess up there, JT might piss off somewhere else too?
Just reading between what was NOT said by Gould which is always more interesting than what WAS said.

It did get my attention though, the rumours about the culture up there being on the nose have been around for years, and they have not played well for ages.
Smoke and fire EE, smoke and fire.
It is NOT what Gould said but more about the way he didn't really say much apart from- "they are going to have to dig THEMSELVES out of it"
What he DID NOT say told us more than anything else.
Maybe the scope of the consultancy role was more around a review of what was happening and less about being able to actually implement changes.
'I'll take the consultancy role, but for starters half your team hate the coach, so unless the coach goes and you get someone in who the players are prepared to stay and play for, then you can dig yourselves out of the mess you are in'
No facts behind this suggestion, just another opinion.
