Gould responds to Addo-Carr speculation

Phil Gould has responded to talk that Josh Addo-Carr will be off to Parramatta via a trade with Lock Ryan Matterson. He mentions that the club have no intention of letting Addo-Carr go, he is loved by members and will see out his deal til 2025. Pretty much muttering he does not know where the reports came from. Now, Gould's response is spot on, in that he said what he should have said whether true or not it is the right thing to say.

Does this mean Gus is right? No idea, could be or not. But overall Gus in the past has said similar then the opposite has happened. But vice versa has happened also.

  • Gus is cagey, if he is looking to offload JAC, he's not about to broadcast it to the world if he thinks he can get something back for him.

    • He played it as he should, nothing to see here whether it is true or not. Gus knows how to play the media, the fans catch on quicker, but knows how to play media.

  • Ivan Cleary is our Coach and he has our support - i don't know where these reports come from!

Anthony Griffin is our Coach and he has our support - I don't know where these reports come from!

Nathan Barrett is our Coach and he has our support - I don't know where these reports come from!

BASED ON THAT: Josh Addo-Carr is leaving for sure!

    • Haha. Spot on.

    • I have no idea who Nathan Barrett is but I am assuming that you meant Trent Barrett.

      • Nathan Barrett was Gus' jr coach.

It is where the off field boardroom games he plays started.

        • Yes it should have been Trent - Brain Fart

  • If there are negotiations going on and we are the ones approaching them, or Gus is negotiating with JAC who wants to leave , it's a given Gus is going to say " hey we love you here we have no reason to let JAC leave ".

Put it this way , either Gus is telling the truth and they want to keep JAC OR Gus is well and truly in the drivers seat and it's us giving the gobbies on our knees begging him for the trade.

My guess is this statement is for Addo Carr's management team who are chasing the release. The old pillow biters digging the heels in and letting them know he won't bend over for any player during business hours.

The whole things funny considering everyone was pulling their puds about the great Gus Gould and his shrewd recruitment and how the Dogs were cap comfortable due to his business smarts. He's now had two star recruits wanting out . Kikau and Mahoney would no doubt love to reverse their choices too.

    • Depends how much they are really getting paid. If what you said about ' third party deals' is true - and I've heard similar from other people - they are probably happy where they are as they are going to retire rich men

  • If Gus told me it was raining, I'd still stick my head the window to check. He's been so full of shit previously, that you can't trust anything he says really.
