Parramatta coach Brad Arthur says Michael Gordon is "struggling" with the contract dramas that has blocked his mid-season NRL move from Cronulla.
Gordon had reportedly walked out on the Sharks earlier this week after being denied a request to shift to the Eels a fortnight ago.
Cronulla have since denied the report and released a statement explaining the 31-year-old was given leave from training to address personal matters.
However, Arthur revealed on Thursday he has since spoken to Gordon and was concerned for his well-being.
"I called him a couple of days ago just to make sure he was okay," Arthur said.
"I just wanted to reassure him that if he can make the move over here, we're still willing to have him. But my main concern was that he was not in a good headspace.
"He said he's struggling a little bit. But he's a pretty strong kid in the dealings I've had with him. I think he'll be okay."

I reckon you might be right Miatch, but if Gordon doesn't come across BA maybe limited in his options. But that will still leave a hole with the halfback position even if Corey plays No1.
Let's not take Bevan French out of the equation Miatch.
I find this amusing in a Black way.
Here we have these tough, afraid of nothing "professional(?)" footballers who will smash and bash guys twice their size - but tell them their cat is sick and they go to water needing counselling.
FFS - wasn't this the major complaint we had with "he who shall not be named?"
Want a lolly little boy?
I dont think it matters what he wants, if BA wants him at FB next year thats where he'll play or Wenty, he only has 1yr left anyway.
I agree........I have a feeling they may move Foran to 7 and keep Norman at 6
I feel for Flash Gordon. He still has a lot to offer but the writing is on the wall.
Players are 'well paid' "professionals" but we can so easily forget they are human beings first.
If we lived with inbuilt chips, semi robotic, emotionless beings the whole he should "act professionally" (suck it up) mentailty falls so inadequately short of the entire reality.
For me, Cronulla's stance is not professionally ethical but on a basic human unethical.
Imagine, your wife or partner saying Jack you're going to have to pull your weight up son, keep being devoted to me, work your long hours because next year I'm not going to be with you. They might sleep together for convenience and fair trade (professionalism) but it's almost whorist.
Shit, surely we can do better.
