Semi doesn't have the communication skills to play fullback. Fullback organises the front line troops, tells people which side of the ruck needs numbers etc, where the attack is likely to come etc. He's a almost monosyllabic in English from what I've seen in interviews. Not sure about his french after his stint in rugby......
Hey Poppa, Magpie is not making assumptions about Semi's intelligence but rather, his ability to communicate. English is not his first language and he's not known to be heard.
I do agree that communication is a prerequisite to be a modern-day fullback.
As for his intelligence? Semi is a gifted athlete but, it takes intelligence to play any sport at the highest level. In my opinion, Semi was the best winger in the NRL before he left.
We have two quality wingers, one, a proven performer, the other with the potential to be the most destructive winger in the game. It’s a tough decision, in my opinion, Semi is or at least was, better than both our current wingers.
So, where does Semi fit? I don’t see him as a fullback or a centre.
Yerp, I love Semi, take him back in a heartbeat, fit him in wherever we can, but.... he was still learning the game when he left , he's been in another game for a few years, you don't make him fullback.
Agreed. Wing and centre are his only two options in RL, that's unless he's changed a lot since last we saw him and I doubt that his Eng;ish grew another leg while playing in France. Maybe our squad could all learn French so that Semi can play fullback making all the calls in French!

Absolute rubbish magpie.
Rubbish that the fullback organises the defensive line? Really?

I agree with this post.
Semi is not a talker. The FB must talk and Guth does.
Why not pay a winger 1 mil when he can single handedly win you games? This concept that the winger should be on peanuts is very out-dated.
When a winger takes 12-15 hit ups a game and makes good ground and breaks he's well worth the money.
JUST GET HIM BACK.
x 2
Same can be said for the Taka-Semi combination. Lethal.
Just get him back to the club and worry about position later, me thinks.
