As we move closer to the upcoming Leagues Club elections prepare yourselves for the inevitable barrage of negative media surrounding our club.
I've heard that a former Eels CEO has been seen having coffee recently with a well known SMH journalist and no doubt we'll be hearing from a well known AM radio broadcaster shortly as well.
So what are they likely to be saying?
Well you'll probably get the usual innuendo that our current Board doesn't have the experience to run a multi-million dollar organisation (even though they've done it magnificently these past two years), you'll probably hear that Brad Arthur's job is not guaranteed, you'll probably hear that recent player signings are considering backing out of their deals or maybe even current players are looking to leave, you'll likely hear the Bill Moss was forced away from our club by power hungry Directors, you'll likely hear from former staff who'll claimed they've been bullied, you'll likely see a former player trashing our club on social media, you'll likely see a former player pen an incoherent open letter with more fantasy and conspiracy theories than an X-files movie, you'll probably even see two former factions who were once enemies uniting to bring down Steve Sharp and his team.
I can't speak strongly enough when I say to please ignore all this expected garbage that will undoubtedly come our way. We can't stop it happening but it shows more about the calibre of people desperate to get into power then it does about our current Board. Our current Board are not perfect and they would be the first to admit they've made some errors along the way but one thing they've insisted upon above all else is Club first, Team second, Individual third and by that it means that corporate governance (the rules) will not be compromised for anyone. Their detractors really struggle with that very basic but important concept.
So try to have a thick skin over the next few months and remember to get out and vote at election time. Our club is headed for greatness and we absolutely must stay the course.

The emperor with no clothes is a festering sore on the club. Ever since he was moved on, he has been embarrassing at meetings and appears to have some contacts in the media and an ex board member who peddle his stories
Anyone who votes for him and his cronies must be mentally deranged, the club appears to have his act together currently, and a jealous ex employee seems intent on spoiling our future
FMD, how ridiculous
If you are on 1EE you are a keen supporter. If you are a keen supporter you should be doing as much as possible to help keep the current team in place. We can't let the people who treat OUR great club as their play thing to get anywhere near the place again.
Financially, strategically, ethically and commercially we are on track. Let's stay that way.

Does this have to happen every year at the start of the footy season? Can't this be done in like October or something.
I look forward to these elections; can someone tell me are they on in May??
I don't know the financial details and am not close enough to make an informed call but from the outside looking in and from my contacts in coaching staff, physio staff and corporate sponsors we are heading in the right direction on and off the park so we need to stay on track, another change will undo all the progress we have made. Furthermore all previous directors and candidates have had their chance. Moss is the unknown, yes he is a heavy hitter as they say but he might also make tough decisions like ruthless heavy hitters do that us supporters won't like, it will be big business which is great but at what cost. I think we have the balance right at the moment.
- Bill is interviewed by Fitzgerald's buddy Hadley.
- Bill is interviewed for an article about problems with the Premiership Club (not true, thankfully, it's all up and running).
- Fitzgerald and Shepherd announce an allegiance.
Mate, I'll cry into my coffee if Bill is linked to Shepherd. I thought better of him. He said to Hadley that he's done with the club and a new board won't change his mind. If he does pop up as a supporter of Shepherd and Fitzgerald he's been telling porky pies.
The only reason BA and new signings could be gone is if the current board are thrown out, otherwise its business as usual.
So if youre a member and dont want BA or Foran etc vote for Denis, otherwise vote for Steve.
Great post Muttman, thanks for putting it out there and reminding everyone of what can happen if they were to believe all the crap that gets written.
As Xman mentioned, it would be great for the Club if we were to get more wins under our belt because it is true that most supporters only look at the results on the field and will tie that in with all the negativity that is written about the board.
We need to get the message out to the masses about what our current board of directors have achieved.
My question is what is the club doing to get this message out. I feel that we should be saturating the communities with as much info as possible with flyers etc prior to the election. I for one would be happy to walk the streets where I live putting flyers in letterboxes.
Whatever I can do to get the message out just ask.....
Great post Muttman, hopefully Sharpey and his board get back in and can finally rid ourselves of the cancers that are holding our club back. We know who they are hopefully finally we can be rid of them once and for all.
Oh yeh I forgot about that. This Board will undoubtedly be blamed for Hayne leaving as well. That one is a given.
