BA is big on creating the right culture but was unable to get that all in place because of the differing at war factions amongst members, ex players, staff, and various board members and an unscrupulous lot of undermining ego maniacs directing hell upon the cultural dreams BA was implementing, which is all about getting the right staff and players in place.
Until Steve Sharp forced the State Govt to bring in our current Chairman (still less than a year ago), BA had no chance to build the solid foundations for his planned culture to blossom out of. But in spite of all the sabotage and distractions going on BA managed to forge the beginnings of the culture clearly demonstrated by our 2016 squad and Brad's intimate support staff.
But then the cap dramas came along too and while the credibility of our club was being smashed to smithereens across the public domain, Brad had to cut players from his squad as well as having to deal with our 2017 & 2018 cap being reduced as well as dealing with a few players and staff here and there whose screws were just a bit too loose and overall, these setbacks have affected Brad's overall cultural plans.
Only a few months ago did our club finally have a stable board, hire the right CEO and have in place what's needed to build the cultural dream Brad Arthur is determined to not only fully blossom but have in place everything required to keep this culture rocking along powerfully for many, many years to come, out of which comes great success for our club.
The foundations of our club have been damaged badly. Now we are in the phase of rebuilding the "right" cultural foundations across all Eels operations and from there with the right board, CEO, BA and all support staff, we have the freedom to move ahead without sabotage coming along again.
Brad would want to hire, purchase or groom from the juniors, the right players and staff that suit the culture he's building. Getting the right attitude comes before making sure the skills are there too. A player on the market with great skill may not be the right fit for the Eels team Brad is building.
It is totally absurd for anyone to be whinging and complaining about Brad Arthur when he held everything together last year and has barely had the time without scandals and sabotage to build his team out of a culture that makes our club number one in Rugby League. It's what we all want.
Everyone makes mistakes but what stands out are those who do not have the doubt to continue destroying the heart of a dream he/she is building and expanding and instead the experience of the mistakes only makes them better at realising the dream they hold. They've not given up.
With what Brad Arthur has had to deal with up to now, it would be insane to shoot him down. Those who do are fucking idiots.

He had his spine smashed and a reduced cap came with it. What do you expect. Foran lost his marbles and Peats was moved on. There are many other extenuating circumstances that impacted the early start to his 2017 squad. We have an inexperienced spine. Give this squad and total club circumstances to Craig Bellamy and let's see what Craig or Wayne Bennett or Des Hasler or Phil Gould could do with our 2017 squad. Let's not forger Wayne Bennett and Newcastle.
Anyway, absolutely Fathead.
They need to support the coach where it counts not in the damned blabla interviews!
And your Brad's number one cheerleader.
Some very fair and good points here Froggy but by the same token Brads been here a while now, hes not immune to criticism or people disagreeing with how hes doing things.
But the criticism is not coming from where it really matters. Copy of what I just wrote to FatHead in the "I'm writing Parra off for 2017 after 5 rounds" thread......... "Don't agree. Bernie, Brad, the board and all support staff will be down in the bunker amongst all the dirt, grime and shit working together as a big-team-effort rebuilding the culture of our club. The sun has finally arisen above the horizon of all the shit our club has endured since 2008/2009."
