NRL to negotiate loans for Warriors as Eels duo join club

Parramatta pair George Jennings and Daniel Alvaro are poised to immediately bolster the Warriors squad, with the NRL offering to help negotiate any other loan deals the New Zealand franchise has on its hit list.

Injuries, coupled with the strain of being away from home, have raised concerns about whether the Warriors will be able to remain competitive or even see out the season. Their depth will further be tested when star trio Ken Maumalo, David Fusitu'a and Agnatius Paasi, as well as rookie forward King Vuniyayawa, fly home after Saturday’s clash with the Roosters.

  • Wonder if they get injured playing for the Warriors , how that plays out  " cap relief , replacement players etc " and do we receive Cap Relief for the period they are not wearing Blue and Gold for this year.

  • Will be very good for Alvaro. He needs some game time.
Unlike many here I think Alvaro is a perfectly good bench Prop. Rarely makes an error, defensively sound and makes his metres. He needs some game time for sure.
Maybe the Warriors will offer Gennings a long term deal (fingers crossed)

    • With you on both accounts. Alvaro needs some serious fitness hit outs to be ready to help us during the finals perhaps, if required.

    • I watched a reserve grade game he played earlier in the year and Alvaro was a standout at that level. Sadly he just hasn't (yet) been able to produce it in the top level.

      • Too slow, no post contact metres and no ball skills. Flounders after making a tackle making us always one man short. Can't get back to marker when he lands on his arse. I look at his face and it reminds me of the type of players you have when you take the wooden spoon.

  • I would have thought we kept gunning for back up.

  • A change of scenery may be helpful as well as the game time. I suppose Haze Dunster would get a look in now if we need an outside back to cover.

  • Wow.

  • Good news for all involved, good luck to Dan and George.

  • Makes sense. Alvaro will benefit from game time. GJennings odd though. He replaced Fergo against Manly so that suggests he is first cab off the rank if an outside back goes down. What if Fergo or Sivo goes down? Can we recall a backup?

"When you change coaches you need to expect some players to chase the money elsewhere because there is no relationship with the new coach. Ryles is now building the squad with the players that fit his style. It's nobody's fault, it's just how it goes."

"Having talent and knowing how to teach that talent to others are completely different skillsets.
A lot of the best coaches weren't very good players, and a lot of brilliant players aren't good coaches."
