Genuine Concern

I am known to many of the members of this forum as an optimist, a bit of a groupie of BA and an apologist for the decisions of our recruitment and retention committee.

That wouldn't be an enitirely accurate way to describe me but I do understand that the nature of open forum discussion will typically land you in one of two camps.
So, I'm happy to accept that characterization for the sake of a healthy discussion.

We don't all see eye to eye (pun intended) on this page but one thing is for sure, we all have a fierce and passionate love for The Parramatta Eels.

I have no interest in starting any rumors that are based on unfounded claims or speculation.
I do though wish to kick off a peaceful, friendly but serious inquiry into the management of our clubs playing roster.

I would not classify any of my skills as terribly useful in such an inquiry, however I know that there are individuals on this website and perhaps friends of those who may posses such skills and connections.

I have held concern for some time that there is a genuine lack of desire to exhaust all potential avenues to achieve the goal of securing a premiership in the Nation Rugby League.

I believe that if that is the case we have been mislead.

There is a huge following of this football club and an enermous revenue stream generated by these supporters, members, non members alike.

Transparency on the recruitment and retention strategy is required here, clarity on spending of the actual development of the football team. Not broad brush strokes regarding investments in high performance centres and facility upgrades, I demand and should be afforded exact strategic direction and roster management.

This is our opportunity to come closer to the club and to strengthen our relationship with the playing group.
What we have now is absolutely not good enough.

Our great club and it's incredible supporter base can take a step to being the absolute leader in fan engagement and involvement.

If you feel like I am speaking some form of sense here please collaborate with me on this. I am in fear that the end of my journey with the Eels is near, after decades of absolute dedication and resolute and complete loyalty I can feel my patience exhausting.

  • Why is Brad Arthur not surrounded by the best in class coaching assistants, or at least a mentor like Sterlo or Brian Smith.
When will he be moved onto a new role inside the club to breathe fresh life into the football team.
Why are we consistently losing genuine first grade prospects from the junior ranks, year after year.
Who are our key recruitment targets, especially in the outside backs, why are we not securing them.
What will change in our defensive strategy, especially in the outside backs.
What are we paying our players.
What do we expect and value during our recruitment process and does it align with our club's driving principles.
When will the supporters of this club feel truly vlaued and represneted by the athletes on and off the field.

These are the kinds of questions we all deserve detailed are transparent answers to. Dont just sit there and accept the lack of clarity. We have earnt clarity.

    • So your journey with the Eels is apparently  coming to an end. See ya.  We appear  to have a crop of decent juniors coming through ,is Super coach the man to promote  their talents into winners . Very dubious. Adios Bronson.

      • There is only so long you can be abused Seth, I guess I'm not as resilient as you.
Hopefully we really turn it around soon and head in a direction where the members and fans are shown as much loyalty and respect as folks like yourself show the club.

May I ask you a question Seth? You can feel free to ignore me.
What makes you think these kids will stick around. The best player is already gone, now the best winger (a position we have been desperate for), we have a top heavy system that does not benefit young developing backs, we have no interest in success in the NSW cup or paying players to play in reserve grade, although we can afford to.

At what point will you accept that we aren't doing a good enough job of retaining these talents before you agree with me.
If tomorrow Tuivaiti signs elsewhere or JJBM.

        • Decent response, I've been through  times when our club got 8 wooden spoons in 10 years, I didn't give up then I'm  not about to start now. If your not tough enough to be an Eel  so be it.

          • Seth you should absolutely do whatever you want and whatever brings you happiness.

I only wish the best for you and infact I only wish that for everyone.

But please just reconsider that position, truly have a think about it. It's not about continually standing by a team that has poor results. That is a spell that we have been put under.
That is exploitative. Our loyalty is being farmed.

Our football department is being drip fed resource. Just enough to get by, but we don't push the boats out.

It's not a contest of who can endure the most suffering until we win a premiership, it's about excellence and dedication to the cause.
We should be as consistently competitive as the Roosters, Storm and Panthers. We should be pushing the Broncos to be the greatest sporting franchise in the league.

            • Thanks for the best wishes, for fucks sake it's  a game of footy, it's not the siege of Stalingrad. Lighten your load.

    • Mentor? He's been head coach for longer than some of the ball boys have been alive.

BA is an ok coach. Our retention sucks. That said BA has had long enough to get things sorted. I can't see us winning a comp within BA's current contract and a comp is what we need. The club should be looking for a new coach now.

  • You want the club to publicise its salary cap and its recruitment targets?

    • Yes

      • Why do you think you're entitled to such information ?
