Game day blog: Dragons vs Eels.

It’s game day and this week the Eels come up against a Dragons team desperate for a win. The Dragons are a very good team on paper and have five rep players in their squad. It’s fair to say that they are massive under achievers this year but remain a mathematical chance of making the finals, but their chances are slim.

The Eels need to play smart and strong up the middle to have any chance. They also need to shut down Widdop and be wary of his short kicking game. Norman will be out for revenge after Sivo broke his cheek bone earlier in the year, I’m hoping he cops a bit of tough love again today.

So, who will win and by what margin?

The game is at Kogarah and the Eels are very average away from home.

GO YOU EELS!

  • I’ll say Eels by 7.

    MOM Sivo.

  • Eels by 15 . MOM Moses .

  • Eels by 10

Waqa to score jis first eels try

    MOM Moses

  • I pray our middle stands up and holds their own to give our halves and backs some space and time but against Vaughan Graeme frizzle and co. with McInnes at hooker I think we will struggle in the middle. Widdop also makes them twice as good and with a game under the belt he will be better. Hopefully losing is now a habit for them and talks of a split amongst the team are right because on paper they are better than us. If we win then eels by two and Moses MOM.

  • The dragons are a better team for mine, but their style of play doesnt take advantage of our defensive weaknesses.. That is the inability to control the ruck speed. If they get quick play the ball and run from dummy half we’re in trouble.

    Eels by 4

  • Dragons with Widdop are a different team. We’re also playing away. I can’t tip us today. Dragons by 12

    • I’m with you Mutt but I hope we are wrong

    • Agree - hope I’m wrong.

Remember we are the team tht play other teams back into form.

  • I need us to start showing semi final level intent from here on in. Putting extreme pressure on opposition halves and defending with purpose.

The referees are loathsome to blow the whistle so it’s time to push the boundaries with our linespeed and our slowing of the ruck.I need to see us put a heavy price on our try line , our defence has to be air tight in coming weeks playing one team in the eight on the run home we need to keep opposition teams under 12 points a game and gain confidence in our ability to absorb their attack.

  • I really hope I’m pleasantly surprised. Dragons by 16. A win today for us would be huge! I just think the Dragons might be due to show some good form at home today. We were lucky last week, they were unlucky. Tough game!
