so the question in hindsight is, should we have kept paulo even at 600k a season whatever it was?

It seems he was pretty keen to get out. In the end he will only play 60 min. We now have some very good forwards from the money we saved from Junior's exit (probably picked up 3 with this money).
Probably got 2 of the new 3 forwards

The foozball devil had been in his hear for a loong while. From memory he said he'd been in touch often for past two years prior himself. Shame we couldn't have made a more competitive offer earlier to keep him before it went sour.
The same happened to Semi early and just hope we don't make the mistake with Tep now either (doubt it though).
Treat em mean $, keep em keen doesn't work with the talented footy players that are on a steep rise in their careers Imo.

even if it was that high, we wouldn't have necessarily needed to match the raiders to convince him to stay
He wanted out of Sydney and had another 750k reasons to leave, we offered him a "strong deal" we don't know how much but realistically we weren't going to pay that much for him.
The only comparison Paulo will have with Gallen is that he will probably make similar metres albeit from about half the runs. This will be good for NSW as some numpty will not be clogging up the attack.
Paulo will be found out big time in defence at Origin level.
From all reports Matagi will be a decent replacement. Im also keen to see how Vave goes too this season. I watched Vave play for Manly and thought he was pretty damaging off the bench.
So we sort of swapped Junior Paulo for Matagi & Vave, i'm happy with that result.
So Junior is now going to be a record breaking loser!
