Fuifui in the second row?

Just to make the prospect of this game even more exciting, is any one champing at the bit to see how Kearney is going to use his forwards and the possibility of a wide-running Fuifui Moimoi.

I think Fuifui outwide, could do similar for us as what Dave Taylor does for Souths. Combine this with my other post, and eventually you could have Hayne at six, Loko on his outside, Fuifui as your wide-second rower. Suddenly you've got some incredible firepower that you can really start to work some fearsome structures around. The beauty of this setup would be that Hayne playing a traditional six role, will suck the defence in-field and create a heap of space outwide, and then you're going to start opening up that kind of play where you're putting Fuifui one-on-one with the opposition's five-eighth. He scores every time in that situation. And as soon as the wide defenders creep in to counter it, Hayne's got his beautiful cut-out pass that is going to put his winger away.

Potentially it's just as dangerous than the Sutton/Inglis/Taylor combination, because while Loko is obviously not in Inglis' class yet, Hayne's ballplaying is much better than Suttons.

  • Sounds pretty good to me.... Lets hope Stephen Kearney reads this!!

Go you mighty blue and golds!!

  • I absolutely LOVE Fui running out wide. Anyone remember the 09 Grand Final. Fui almost won it for us on the fringes.

I think Hayne would rip it up at six. Only thing is, if you look at the team structure at the moment, Hayne is already playing the five eighth role for the team with Mortimer/Robson pretty much first receiver on either side. That's why his line-break assists/try-assist numbers rival Marshall and Thurston.

If Hayne wants to play "fullback" but chime in as a second five-eighth, I say let him.

But to Fui running out wide, HELL YES.

  • That's what I was thinking last week, put Fui out wide, this year he is looking faster and all he needs is a bit of space.
  • Fui'd kill it out wide. He always does when he goes out there!
  • *drooling*
  • It would be a fantastic sight to see, that's for sure.
  • Would love to watch this happen..
  • Do you think Fui has the lateral movement required to defend out wide though?
  • i thought i was only 1 who thinks hayne would  be a far better 6 then a fullback he can cope with the defence just look at hes tackle highlights from when he played wing / centre and he would be far better in the attacking third.

he will be there in 4 years time he is too much of a liability at fullback hes postional play is woeful at times and hes kick returns arnt always that effective he just jogs and does hes skip to the line gets tackled then gets a slow play the ball every time and we consistantly start our sets on the back foot.

but because hes a freak these things dont get picked up

  • Totally agree.

The bloke could be the best 6 in the business and sadly for us, in 2009 anyway, he didn't want to play there and make a decent go of it.  I say so what if it's not his preferred position and he doesn't like tackling.  If the coach wants you to play there suck it up and do it for your mates.
