I'm only guessing but is it something to do with the New Zealand viewing time slot ? I'm going to bet by next year they'll be putting one of the NRLW games as one of the Friday games anyway. They're probably doing it on purpose to make the let down of getting a shit game permanently less of a hit.
The two worst viewing times would be Friday 6 pm and Saturday 3 pm, they have to put shit games on sometime.
How the Parra / Melbourne game was a 5:30 Saturday though is anyone's guess. Surely that had to be a free to air to get maximum coverage. In fact I think Parra have only had one FTA game this year.

Warriors could have iced that game during regular time but Johnson decides to run a short side and is stuck at the play the ball. I don't understand how that happens.
