This article is very interesting, and includes news/info that many may not have seen, certainly a reasonable amount of it I haven't. Its very much worth reading but is lts also a long article.
This goes to the heart of the leagues labour management issues that I have been banging on about for years. The NRL needs a rookie draft to distribute the best young talent, it needs rookie scale contracts to stop managers from holding clubs to ransom to sign young talent to huge deals based solely on potential, and it needs a soft cap to allow teams to retain their own free agents.
Its teams being forced to overpay for unproven potential that is squeezing out the games mid level depth.
