The Parramatta Eels are pleased to announce Bailey Simonsson, Josh Hodgson and Daejarn Asi have extended their contracts until the end of 2024, while Matt Doorey has extended until the end of 2025.
Parramatta Eels General Manager of Football Mark O’Neil said, “We’re incredibly proud of all four players, not just for their hard work and dedication, but also their wonderful character off the field.
“Bailey has settled well within our environment and his performances have been very good.
“Josh has a unique ability to communicate the technical aspects of the game and his experience and leadership skills have helped with the development of many other players, Brendan Hands in particular.
“Daejarn is a quality young utility who has added depth in the halves and has most recently played a valuable role in our NRL team.
“An Eels Junior returning to the club, Matt Doorey has a great opportunity in the team, with his best football still ahead of him,” said Mark.

I think its a positive step for Parra and for all the players concerned even if a few won't agree with Hodgson staying.I still feel Hodgson must be held in high regard with the players and the coaches and will be needed come the end of the season with his experience and knowledge of a mature footballing brain.Only time will tell.
Hodgson was a legend and only slightly behind Cameron Smith, may still come good next year recovering from his injuries. Either way he will continue to be an invaluable mentor and at the worst great depth/bench hooker
i see him as a coach next yr
Ok so Bailey Simonsson has activated his player option, holding onto Asi is great, Doorey is a good back up and has potential, Hodgson I really don’t understand unless he's on a very low contract, but he's probably been good for the group with his experience and knowledge
You got any scoops Chief?
Thats good news but I'm surprised that Josh Hodgson has extended given his recent injury concerns. Unless he's intended to be used in a minor coaching area
He didn't extend, the club just picked up his option. He still has value.
Experience matters.
Do we know if Parra exercised their own option or Hodgson his as I think there were mutual options in the contract? Could be Hodgson just chose to exercise his own option
Guessing with Mitch Rein announcing his retirement yesterday, Hodgo gets re-signed due to a shortage of hookers???
I had the same thought. If Hodgson takes the spot of Rein then that's a decent improvement on the list considering Rein was never a chance of playing first grade.
