I'm discussing two separate points in this blog.
- The old adage that forwards win matches still holds true. What I'm most concerned about is our current lightweight forward pack and bench. As most of our games have shown we are competitive until about 10 minutes after half time and then fall away. This lack of size imo is contributing to us losing games as we fade at the backend of matches.
- Another part of our problem that concerns me is our lack of fight when we are down. Most good teams continue to fight hard to salvage the match, we just slowly, or sometimes quickly, capitulate and get well beaten. It can't be thru lack of training but lack of mental toughness. The 2 players who continue to fight hard and not give in, ironically, have both served time in jail, Ma'u and Watts. Either BA gives the balance of the team a stint in jail, not very practical, or gets someone in to work on their mental toughness. You can easily make yourself physically tough but if your not mentally tough your less than halfway to being a good fg player!
