Forwards didn't aim up, admits Eels

We have a consensus. Parra's props "didn't show up against the Dragons", Jarryd Hayne has told Rugby League Week and captain Nathan Cayless isn't disagreeing."The St George forwards really put it to them and obviously dominated, so it was tough from the get-go," Hayne was quoted as saying. "I had limited space and couldn't do what I normally do but like I've always said, that comes off the back of the forwarsd and what they do up front".Cayless wasn't arguing admitting the Dragons big men "definitely dominated"."When you play in the front row you've got to lead every week and Daniel (Anderson) was into us at half-time. He said Moimoi and myself didn't set a platform for the rest of the team so we let the team down there".Cayless said the Eels played dumb by not passing the football more. "We played straight into their hands".Full story in this week's Rugby League Week

  • this week will be a different story we are gonna rattle moi mois cage
and then let the tongan tornado out to cause some major damage
  • When a side like St George aim up to us like they did last week, you really saw the vulnerabilities and lack of depth within our forward pack. We really missed Nathan & Grothe & it shows we really need Poore & Shackleton (But that is NY)
Mateo is not a off the line man, Lowrie was a waste of space & thank good we wont see wright again. However that was last week.

For this week with Grothe & Hindy back we will fire up. Foi knows that Poore will shadow him so we need a plan for that. It would be just dumb if Foi tries to out muscle Poore. We need to play smart football. Cayless needs to play the game of his life 'cause he has been quiet of late. Smokin Joe also needs a big game & I hope Inu is okay in the centers 'cause we really need Smith to fire up in the forwards as well with smith coming of our line. All of our forward boys are required to have massive and I really mean massive games. Also need to exploit the dragqueens up the centre so plenty of yards need to be made from the play the ball. We will also need them to play the ball really really quick to give our backs room.

I Forgot to mention second phase play, we need our small men to chase the ball runners. Lets play smart football with the Smiths running on the edges and we need to turn a few balls inside, we must mix our game up. We were so predictable last week. One out and staright, few off loads, few inside balls. Not hard to defend against. WE MUST MAKE THE YARDS to be affective or we are dead. I know we can do it. All this must happen without panic & without forcing the ball and loosing it on early tackles. We have got to complete our sets.

Some one start a blog on the backs & I'll tell you what they need to do there.

    Parra to win by 5
    Go Parra
    • When I say up the middle it is only the small boys Keating & Kingston off the pay the ball, ducking & weaving around Saints big men when that are on the back foot. It's not a bad ploy to turn the odd ball back inside to a Lowrie or so to again catch the bludging saints big men as they drop off in attack in middle around the ruck. This just mixes it up a little. As I said we need to be creative and a little less predictable.

We tried to run up the centre last week and got monstered.

I agree we cannot try to out muscle saints, because we do not have the forward pack to do so.
  • Lowrie made two crucial errors last week and to be honest, he's lucky to be there this week at all. Also, good to see Jon Wright dropped, he was woeful. Cayless needs to man up a bit more too - Weyman and Poore slaughtered him.
    • GO AND SUCK ON A CARROT U TOOL
  • After watching the game the second time I couldn't help but notice the lack of passing/offloads when being tackled which always kept the ball alive in previous matches. I suspect this will change on Sunday.
Fingers and everything else crossed, not my legs though, thats just ummm wrong, lol
  • I think they are trying to offend Fui.... Keep criticizing him so he's really pissed off come Sunday!
  • Sorry playing up the middle is going to play straight into the hands of the Dragons we cannot fight fire with fire here as we simply do not have the aggression or the size in the forwards, the guys have to get the little blokes Morts and Keating involved around the ruck area and the big guys on the edges!!!

Mateo was really the only player last week who looked threatening in attack and he played where he usually is out wide!!

To suggest our pack is going to miraculously get a serving of AGRO overnight is crazy!!

Moimoi has more or less single handedly destroyed opposition sides on the winning streak but he cant do it on his own!!!

They can win this match and they have to bring agro and big doses of it into the game but more importantly they have to play smart positionally!!
  • I like many was at the game. I knew within two minutes that this was going to more then just a tough game. I knew we were in deeper trouble within 4 four minutes. Fui was getting belted, all of the dragons forwards were fired up, we looked very flat & were running straight of the ruck & 1 out with no off loads or creativity in our attack. Sure enough within the first 5 or so Saints scored. I knew we were gone. (I know that is a big call with 75min of football left but our heads dropped. We had won 7 straight - Our attitude just was not there on the nite) To Fui's credit, I don't think he ever gave up. I was just really disappointed with how straight & flat we were. Our forwards need to get pissed off, because they got monstered by the saints. I know your stats one eye say there was only 0.3 of a meter difference in yards, but what the stats don't tell you is that in at least every set that saints had at least one good go forward happened & with a quick play the ball, that allowed their backs to launch a raid after raid. Our guys just got belted & belted & then belted again & inparticular on the right side. Saints were just so dominate. As I said & as have others, I hope our forwards get pissed off, 'cause they need to be.
  • The Saints also had a plan to keep Hayne and Grothe out of the game by kicking to Burt's wing. It was to Soward's strong side as well making it a heap easier for him to get a good kick away. They then had a dominant kick chase, continually had us cornered and on the back foot. With how good the Dragons played and how good we let them play, with our dropped balls, we were completely monstered at the start of nearly every set. Bloody impossible for any forward pack to get on a roll when the game goes like that. I would have thought at sometime in the match Hayne and Burt may have swapped around, just to keep Soward guessing. We made it way way too easy for the prancing little sh*t to punish us!
