Hey guys
Correct me if I'm wrong our forward pack is very mobile correct ?
RCG ,Nathan brown, junior Paulo.
Just note from Friday night the forwards were not making much metres in the sets. Do you think our forwards are just not big enough to break the line. Or is penrith defence just that good.
Should we have more stronger forwards such as paseka and tapau . To assist us as the wingers were getting smashed also
Your thoughts??

I think our forward pack is very well balanced. It is certainly not to small.
We are one of the top sides for metres gained. Penrith just play smarter in the ruck which results in slower play the balls which therefore allows the defence line to be set for the next hit up.
Our sets are noot starting well. WE are getting belted with GUTHO, DUNSTER and SIVO. No momentum, very little oor no post contact metres and we appear to be kicking for distrance under extreme pressure. Reed will make a difference in that his passes are spot on, quickly delivered and we can spread a fraction wider to create a bit more punch on tackles 1-3. RCG, Junior, Browny, ICE are top players and IMO equal to any other pack. WE justr lose momentum and field position when Lane and Kafuasi come on and we use Carty so poorly that is not taking advantage of one of the games elite forward offoaders...
Without Fergo we will heed to be a bit more expansive in the back field. I'd like to see Gutho, Dunster & Sivo interact on returns a bit more.
For example, Gutho takes the kick and then links up with either Dunster or Sivo turning them back in the inside. This will force the defence to spread a bit more.
We also need to stop the predicatble one out hit ups. Players like Papallii, Junior, Matto need to have support players running off them to create both diversion/alternatives and to accept second phase play.
Our pack is both mobile and large. I have listened to a number of commentators and opposition refer to the overall size of out team as bieng on the larger side of the comp.
We always just try land bulldoze our way through -that's not always possible with five or six defenders on you
We need to play smarter
Our forwards are good but slightly over rated and it shows when we come up against the top packs.
I think our rotation is off I'd start marata at 13 and bring Brown on at the 25min mark to provide the spark we need in a 1-2 punch with Oregon then use Cartwright and Lane later with a bit more intent
I think we are guilty of running too one out which makes it tough to win the ruck and get a quick pkay the ball for the next forwards
at least twice a set I'd like to see our forwards run in pairs to take the attention away solely from the ball carrier try to get more 1 on 1s or at least 1 on 2s
Also I think Reed has been a big loss for our pack - Joey stands and passes very deep coming out of our end at the moment - Reed gets our forwards more over the advantage line but Joey's passes are very deep and it's hard for our ball runner to make much of an impact IMO
It's obvious, we are predictable. Apart from Lane our pack is fine. Just interact with the backs and play some bloody pass the ball football.
I do think we could use one big body of the bench as we have quite a small bench. Although I think penriths line speed and wrestle to slow us down (along with questionable 10ms) played a big part of poor metres Friday
