Foran-what happened

IMO

1. To keep discrete (no leaks) Seward negotiated with Foran alone (+/- BA) but within limits set by the board.

2. To get Foran over the line Seward went a bit further than authorised by inserting or agreeing to the get out with damages clause.

3. Seward contract not renewed. This is the turning point as it created instability that Manly and their allies has been able to seize upon. The enemy propaganda is to make Parra appear unstable as this was something Foran wanted to avoid. All the blatantly false media stories about BA-DA fued or BA sacked are all to make Parra sound irrecoverably unstable.

4. DA takes CEO duties and sees the $1m dollar clause and in context of Salary cap realizes that it is dangerous. DA talks to lawyers and trying to be a smart CEO/lawyer decides best to wait until after back-flip deadline to act.

5. DA sends BA to talk to Foran about the clause  after the deadline.

6. DA or other staffer pull out the wrong version of the Foran contract from the file with all the contracts and this one is for $4.2 million.

7. Foran agrees to remove get out clause but wants to ensure stability in his environment - BA get out clause.

8. DA refuses as they do not want any get out clauses (Sharp).

9. This is the last straw for Foran: Parra acted deceptively by waiting till after the deadline, they sent him the $4.2 milion contract instead of the $4.8m he signed (incompetent honest mistake but in context looks dodgy), they are being stubborn about the coach get out clause which goes against a key principle of what was agreed -  he wanted stability. Plus he naturally has some element of cold feet and has Manly in his ear telling him how bad Parra is and how much he should stay.

10. Parra board have emergency meeting and agree to coach change get out clause (and $4.8m).

11. Foran now considering staying at Manly again - or letting all fall over and going back on open market.

  • The longer this goes on the less likely Foran is coming
    • He would still look bad backflipping.

Take away the BS and there is not really enough to justify him acting like DCE.

The media are trying to make it easy for him but once the facts come out he will smell partly like DCE.

I think we still have a good chance

    • yep, exactly and it looks to be going too long already.

  • keystone cops

    • Yes - please post better
  • Its over - time to start shopping for another half

  • Some good work here. The time factor may be off. Some talks around clauses may have happened a little earlier. Work out how the clause talks escaped to the media if it didn't come from inside Parra or from Foran's management.
    • thanks Sixty
      Usually ask who benefits
Either it hit a board member who mentioned it to a political rival
Or Foran's team mentioned it in passing to a Manly ally
Hooper broke it and went to pains to protect Forans reputation
I am guessing Manly leaked it to Hooper and organised a bit of a media propaganda blitz
  • IMO if Foran doesn't want to play for us he can fuck off back to manly and take that other idiot Watmough with him!!
  • It was Mr Silly?
