Foran's Hamstring problems

Hey fella's,

This is my official first blog discussing my opinion on something so please take it easy on me :)

Have just read an article on news.com.au that Foran has been ruled out for another several weeks!! Just wanted to get everyones opinion on this and whether their worried about this as i am, i love Foran as player and was stoked when we signed him (partially so i could rub it in my dads face haha) but now i am a bit concerned about his hamstring problems, is it just me or does he seem to injure his hamstring at least once a year?

i think this is the 2nd time this year he has injured it. maybe its because Sea Eagles rushed him back from the first time he did it and maybe he rushed himself a lil cos he wanted to be apart of the kiwi side I'm not sure but definitely a concern, interested to hear all your thoughts :)

  • Foran injured his hammy in the game against Parra and he came back too early. Then he reinjured it even worSe.

Just needs to take the time off and heal properly
  • Hey jimmypop. Yes, I agree it is a worry. I guess the plus side of it, he hasn't torn it in a big way (aka Timana Tahu) for example and hamstrings do tend to be recurring injuries. I guess the advantage we have is we'll know about it and the club will no doubt do their best to manage it, and that will start in the pre-season.

  • Hi jimmy nice first post. I think you have valid concerns and I'm hoping he's just having a bad run ATM. I'd rather he get his injuries out of the way while playing for manly and strengthen his body over the off season. If he only injures his hammy once per year, though not ideal, I'd be ok with that. BA seems to allow his injured players to fully recover before bringing them back so hopefully he will avoid multiple injuries when playing with us.
  • Foran was brought back early to stem the losses.

On a positive note, he is injured at Manly, so hopefully he comes to us all shiny and new.

  • Hi jimmy, welcome aboard mate.

I think any signing you worry about injuries the recruit carries over, most recruits are a risk and most have prior reoccurring injury.

So its a pretty fair worry you have and only time will tell.

He will have injury and time out when he is with us, its just how he is managed, and hes a player well worth taking the risk on and i dont think his hammy dramas are enough to stop a club wanting him.

Hes a really tough player and imo the type of bloke that will play on with minor injuries his whole career, he puts his body on the line and doesnt shy away in defence, i recon we will get plenty of value out of him, but only time will tell

    cheers

  • The bad thing is this is the first year all Australian players have the off season off while Foran has to go to England for tests.
  • The more time he sits out this year the better imo, get him fresher for next year :)

    • Yep. If he sits out the entire year it wouldn't bother me. Manly might as well just give him to us now and we can give them Lussick.

    • That was my point, he will have to go to England to play for NZ in the off season.. taking away from his Eels pre season training or pre season rehab he needs.
    • He will not pull out of playing for his nation.
