Now that would be a step in the right direction wound it not . I think not plus the NRL will not be in any hurry to register him anytime soon
He already was de registered indefinitely, but has now officially resigned from the Sharks.
Hes been deregistered by the NRL so it wasnt a choice by the Sharks club or Flanagan either. Its to do with breaking rules and keeping in contact with the Sharks back when he was banned by the NRL. It certainly makes him look bad and being deregistered the NRL wouldnt allow him to coach any NRL club until he clears himself of these charges which is highly unlikely due to the amount of evidence stacked against him. I cant see him getting a coaching job in the NRL again.
To everyone saying we should grab him as coach to replace BA, should our season go to crap early. Flanagan is deregistered indefinitely and has until January 31 to appeal to the NRL. It's likely the NRL will impose a minimum 12 month ban. I'd like him as our next coach if BA doesn't work out, but obviously that only happens if he's not banned.
I expect it will be significantly longer than 12 months. The Sharks had named John Morris as interim coach for 2019 so sounded like they were prepared to wait this year out. Today’s resignation indicates both parties have knowledge it will be longer.
Dr Wong’s five year de registration information above wouldn’t surprise me at all.
