Fixture Headache

I know the NRL fixtures are seriously influenced by television rights but I find it so frustrating that the gAyFL can post a fixture list, I think it was out in October, with the day and date every team will play on each round for the whole season. For someone north of the border it is very difficult and expensive(airfares/accommodation) to organise a weekend away to watch the Eels.Depending on other matches in any given round they could possibly play on a Friday night, Saturday night, Sunday arvo or a Monday night! The NRL finally showed some balls and changed the starting time for the GF so all of us could partake in a BBQ and the odd Bundy or ten with some time to recuperate. How long will it take to get this problem right?

  • I agree with you 100%, It is a complete joke and just shows how unprofessional the bigwigs at the NRL are when giving the fans fixture info for the first 12 rounds or so.....FooooKInGunbELeiVABLe......
  • I have to disagree. Let's take 2009 for example. Based on 2008 form, the Roosters v Sharks match would have been a cracker, come 2009, how would you feel if that was the Sunday match of the round game in round 10? Yes, the AFL system has it's advantages, but I would much rather the Ch 9 matches being chosen on current form.
    • It has its advantages if you are watching games on TV in NSW. In Qld the Boncos maybe playing the Neville Nobodies on Sunday but they will get top billing over all other matches. My beef is; if I want to attend a game at Parra Stadium, to arrange accommodation and the purchasing of cheap airfares, it would be handy to know when they are playing in advance.
When you don't have the luxury of attending an Eels match every weekend you would appreciate the fact of knowing what day they are playing on becomes.
      • Well said JEELman, ya took the words right outa my mouth. Those in syd take it for granted!
