With recent news that the eels are in the hunt for a replacement fullback, I've been thinking what this really means for Chris Sandow and Corey Norman.
- If we do recruit a fullback, then in my mind Sandow is gone. Unless he will sign on a tier 2 contract (unlikely), Norman with one year to go will certainly be playing in the halves.
- If we don't recruit a fullback, then Norman will be the only option for us in the back. People on this site talks about his defensive lapses, well I agree. But I also agree that if he's only making 6 - 8 tackles a game rather than 20 + in the halves, his miss tackles will decrease.
Does this mean Sandow will get re-signed, well not really. As an act of balancing the salary cap or changing the "parramatta style" of play, BA might opt for consistency in Cornish / Townsend as a 1 year stop gap.
And whilst Norman is off contract at the end of 2016, he will be re-signed as a halve for 2017 so Bevan French can get enough Wenty game time to be ready for first greade.
Conspiracy theory or not - thought?

Norman was RS's signing and Sandow as SK's signing. I have a feeling BA is looking for another half to compliment Foran, I dont think Norman is a certainty to be resigned.
I do not know much about Matherson, but I would really like to see them give him a go in the back half of this year. He cannot be worse than Luke Kelly and he is a chance at a future NRL player where Kelly is nothing more than a back up for us.
