Two developments today.
We made a late season play for Marty Taupau and Blake was shifted to the wing, with Simmonson dropping out.
Both developments positive and it shows the Eels are really thinking about how to tinker with the squad to put us in the best possible position for a finals tilt.
Marty Taupau - he is past his best, but I still think it's a smart move. Marty played career best football alongside Adin Fonua Blake, a strong first carry prop. Perhaps with a strong forward pack, a sea change, and Marty not needing to be the man leading the charge, he can add some punch off the bench. He is undoubtedly a better option than Makatoa and will make our bench significantly stronger. Ps, I know the trade hasn't been rubber stamped yet, but I'd be surprised if Sea Eagles don't let him go. Well done to the Eels Club for having the foresight to do it.
Bailey Simmonson being left out and Blake on the wing is a great move. Blake is a way better yardage player, a good target in the air, and a stronger finisher than Simmonson. It also makes our right side attack far more threatening, which is good for balance - we can be way too predictable down the left edge. Well done to BA for tinkering ahead of the finals.

Agreed Johnny B Good; Taupau could be great impact and back up for us and lets face it BA has not really given anyone else from Reggies a stint in the NRL besides Rodwell. I am disappointed we have not seen others up there.
Blake is more suited to the wing i feel; he always looks good there imo. But Simmonson will come back and a better player i feel.
Perham also for me, he needs another shot in the top grade.
Perham had a good game in the one point loss to Panthers in the State Cup. Kept finding space on right side
