Finals Fever!

Well boys and girls its that time of year again. And you know what? Im excited!!As a Rugby League supporter, this is what we live for. That time of year when as supporters you wish nothing more than for your team to be playing finals football. Each game is massive! One small stumble, and your chance of glory gone. A victory and you're one game closer to that hallowed first Sunday in October! Its that time of year when you reflect on the year that has been. The ups and downs of playing in the toughest sporting competition in the world. The awesome wins and the pathetic losses. The Man of the Match performances, the try of the year, the biggest hit, and the best punch. The rookie who stepped up, and the veteran, as dependable as always! The players that you hated, and wanted dropped, and that coach that obviously doesn’t know what he's doing.Whatever the season that has just been, save for momentum, now counts for nothing, for a whole new competition has begun!Suddenly heroes emerge, coaches begin to shine, and the weekend cannot come quick enough! As a kid, you hung your flag in your room, and got upset when mum made you take off your jersey before bed.. and still, though all grown up you may be, you pull that jersey from the cupboard with a renewed sense of passion and pride, and with the smile of a child that stretches from ear to ear. That feeling you get when you wake up on the morning of a final cannot be described.Only a true supporter knows it... and a band wagoner pretends he does.Let no one tell you that your team doesn't deserve to be there... and let no newspaper tell your team that they cannot win. Many of the games greatest have made their mark in finals football. When stories of Rugby League greatness are told, inevitably it involves a playoff for fifth, or a classic semi final try, or a Grand Final where fans queued to get in.. And those that didn’t get through the gates simply sat on the roof.It does not get any better than Finals Footy! And so, as the Eels embark on another finals campaign, we have a chance as a team to re-write history. If we fail, we won’t be failures, for we have shown that in the face of adversity, the Parra spirit is alive and well, no matter what some experts or supporters may say. May the performances ahead pay respect to the feats of great Parra sides that have gone before.Enjoy it footy fans.... take it all in... For this is what it’s all about. That one crack at Grand Final Glory. That one slice of history that you were a part of. Go out and support your team, and may we do ourselves proud, as our team has made us proud.Go Parra!

  • What's that? Yes, that little droplet of moisture forming in the corner of my eye. Could it be a tear. Yes, yes, I think it is.
  • Yeah 1()d, pure poetry. The current team does resemble teams from the past ~ Hindy is surely the new Pricey and Morts is clever and nimble like a young Sterlo.

I can't wait any faster til next weekend. Bring on the Dragons!
  • I praying that the semi is in sydney! I don't wanna miss it cause its at gold coast or melbourne. I so wanna be there to see the EELS continue the streak!

  • Great post mate it's good to see people love parra as much as me
  • Loving your work mate.
  • It's great that September is here and we're still alive.
I reckon we'd have to have one of the better finals win percentages over the last 10 years. We've snuck in there in 6th or 7th a few times and made it all the way to the 2nd last week. There really is no reason why we can't (in our current form) go all the way this year.
Thanks for bringing back the memories of childhood and BRING ON THE FOOTY!

Hes always trying to run over people which okay is his strength but he's not added anything to move him to that next level.
I honestly don't…"
