Final six round - draw announced

The NRL have today confirmed the final 6 rounds of the 2016 NRL Telstra Premiership, including the Dyldam Parramatta Eels’ final home game at Pirtek Stadium.

The final six rounds will see the Blue and Gold feature in three blockbuster home clashes, against the Wests Tigers, Sea Eagles and the Dragons, including Junior League Appreciation Round against the Wests Tigers, and our Women in League celebrations against the Manly-Warringah Sea Eagles at Pirtek Stadium on Friday 5 August.

Blue and Gold Members and fans can also bid farewell to our home for the past 30 years, Parramatta’s Pirtek Stadium, before its redevelopment in 2017. The Pirtek Stadium farewell is locked in for Monday, August 29, when the Eels take on the St. George Illawarra Dragons in Round 25.

The Blue and Gold will also travel interstate and overseas on the run home, with clashes against the Brisbane Broncos at Suncorp Stadium, Canberra Raiders at GIO Stadium and against the NZ Warriors at Mt Smart Stadium in Round 26.

Last game at Pirtek will be against the Dragons, but on a Monday night.

Interestingly the Bulldogs get no Sunday game, so our Mormon brother doesn't have to sit out any more games. Nothing to see here Teflon Todd.

  • Why are they having the Dragons game on a Monday night? It's the last game at Pirtek Stadium and I would be thinking it would be on a Friday, Sunday or at least a Saturday night. What also gets me is that the Sunday game is between the Knights and the Rabbitohs. What a bludger of a game that will be.
    • Yeah not happy about that
    • Even 2pm kickoff would have been better than a Monday night.
    • Maybe the NRL think fans will turn out in droves to see who out of Knights and Bunnies wins the wooden spoon?
  • What a joke having the last game at Pirtek on a Monday. Fair enough we're out of the finals by then in all likelihood, Dragons maybe still in the mix, but it always rates and draws well. Fancy us getting a Chnl 9 game away in NZ in the last round but not getting a Friday or Sunday for the Pirtek game in Rd 25 against a Sydney rival? That makes no sense to me at all. Add in the Roosters getting 2 Sunday games at 4pm IN A ROW vs Cowboys/Dragons at Allianz on 9! The logic...
  • they want to strip us of 12 pts yet they are happy to give us 3 out of 6 freetime games

    • Broncos have all Thursday or Friday night games in the last 6 rounds.
  • Im not sure why anybody needs to farewell our shit hole of a stadium that we've never had any real success out of barring its first year 86.

We should be throwing a party and burning it down, forget teary eyed fair wells, good riddance to the stadium, it should be a very happy night for all eels fans.

    • Bring your marshmallows
    • It's actually better than any other suburban ground. But I'm sure the next incarnation will be better and hopefully bring much more success.
