Dont start blaming the backs. The forward pack and bench forwards are soft as a babys bum. I could only watch the first half,my BP was thru the roof. Several times 3 or even 4 eels defenders were meeting the ballcarrier flat footed and getting pushed back 5 metres(by one attacker) Thats not the backs faults. Souths were taking the ball up to our defence line which was not moving. At one stage early in the game Lane was adjacent to the play the ball and he stood still watching the souths defender run past him, he didnt so much as raise an arm to stop him. Weak as water. When we finally remembered to hold the ball we were running up one out and didnt make a single metre forward after contact. Is the team being coached to not get hurt in defence and not to get their jerseys dirty??? There were plenty on here last week blaming waqa blake, he got moved but souths still scored plenty down our right edge. But if the forwards are not getting on top theres not much the backline can do about it.
Much is going to be looked at for next weeks game, wont be easy though as who are suspended by the MRC. Getting Fergs out of the way, as he runs as if he's got two flat tyres and needs a jack to reposition, but cannot get him close to the sideline though.
What does need doing is to get a defence coach who can coach the team in how to defend.
I don't know if we can afford to use Niukore at center due to the suspensions and origins. He may have to play center when we have a near full strength roster avaliable.
I can't believe Ferguson played yesterday after watching him struggle so much with injury last week. I still when fit think he doesn't get decent passes from inside or from halves. He is never set up to just run onto the ball he has to always find his own luck and usually with the ball flying into touch.
I'd be giving Fergo a month rest , we need him at the backend of the year, nows your opportunity to tweak your side , give some fringe players a chance and rest some of our weary players as our draws a little easier over the origin period.
Give blokes like Papa a rest before they breakdown. This also helps you with future roster decisions. I'm not sure though we plan too far into the future while we're looking for the collision.
"yeah thanks guys, I was surprised, i just don't see him ball playing like a walker, Hopgood, DeBellin, etc. That surprised me. Mind you none are as good as Walker at it, from lock."
"I agree but from my understanding he has only trained at fullback for the past 2 years so not sure if the club are considering to explore his utlity value."

I think we need to move papali'i to the bench and lane back to the starting side. Papali'i will provide heaps of impact for us.

Fergo is just following the coach's instructions, both Sivo and Fergo jam in. If you want a scapegoat its Brad Arthur who hasn't fixed the problem.

It's actually a easy fix with Ferguson, stop running in all the time and actually start sliding with your centre.
when Nuikore was there with him he was actually quiet good.
stats last night. Show T Opacic had a shocker, 3 missed tackles. W Blake only 1.
fergo 165 metres most meters from any eels player.
i wouldn't drop Ferguson to NSW cup. I would give him the week off
and put W Blake on wing and Nuikore next to him.

Fair call EA.
