Hypothetically what happens with his contract if his knee is done? If he has suffered a new injury that means he cannot fulfill his contract with Parramatta, it doesn't sound like we need to honor it?
I assume Sam Verrills now becomes the main target again... Anyone else?
Verrills or Robson. But would that ruin Matt Arthur's chances of being a future hooker? hahaha just kidding.
Brendan Hands should get a look in then later in the year to see what he has got, Rein is a competent hooker also. But yeah more likely what it would be is Parramatta will do a physical and medically retire him if he doesn't pass, i reckon apart of his deal was a job with the club in retirement he can still meet that part so why not medically retire and move into coaching. Only issue is we don't want him not passing a physical before pre-season then quickly trying to find another 9 before 2023.
Again BEM, i have said my conspiracy theory once before and might be wrong as conspiracy theories are prone to be wrong. But i believe the reason for going for Hodgson at his age is as a stop gap and coaching option to groom Matt Arthur, i am serious on that. Why sign Sam Verrills when he could be a 10 year hooker? Sign an older hooker who only has 2 years max and then Matt takes over in 2025. If i was BA i would be asking for Matt to be put into Jersey Flegg by years end to see how he handles it.
I also feel Hodgson's signing was based on having a leader in the pack to take some off Moses as Hodgson minus the knee issues is a wonderful Hooker. But i will stand by that theory until i see proof Matt Arthur is not named in any squads by late 2023, either in NSW Cup or FG. 2024 is when he will be primed and getting ready like Jakob.
Not saying BA did not want Reed, but probably not too concerned with Matt waiting in the wings, not going to say overly nepotism as he will generally think his sons are stars in the making whether they are not. To BA they're the clubs future. I wouldn't be the slightest bit surprised if Hodgson lasts one year then retires and we move forward with Matt at 9 in 2024.
I like the TCT, but can you imagine a game having BA as the coach of both Matt and Jake Arthur in the starting 13, would be the equivilent to a porno to them
I belive BA would go to those lengths to secure a 1st grade contract for another one of his kids and dare I say it, so would anyone on here if they were in his position too.
Well i asked my dad once if he was coach would he use my brother and i no matter how good we were and he said he would. That is a father, but then again there have thousands of coaches over the years and many of them would have sons yet only a handful have had them debut under them.
"Excellent response Kendoza. No such thing as a fair draw when we don't play everyone twice. Even then people would complain when we play them.
We should be a in a spot where we are a good enough team to beat everyone."

Get Joey Lussick back.

Have been saying since the club announced his signing that it was a terrible decision by the club.
33 years old with a bung knee. Much better than re-signing a top 3 hooker on an extended contract.
The dogs got Mahoney at the bargain basement price of $650k per season.
I would have been happy if we retained Mahoney on $750-$800k per season.
Mahoney gets dominated in almost every tackle. I'm happy we passed on the 650k.
We will miss his kicks out of dummy half though.
You're happy we passed on a top 3 hooker at 650k?
The year before last he made more tackles than anyone else in the NRL and was the front runner last season before his injury.
Hardly the work of someone who gets dominated in every tackle.
He is also the best at putting his forwards over from close range.
Also before his injury was in top hooker for try assists in the league in 2021.

I don't think it's a conspiracy theory at all LB.
