Favourite Parramatta Stadium Moment

Today is the 29th of August, 2016 and tonight the Parramatta Eels will play their final game at Pirtek / Parramatta Stadium. After tonight the stadium will be bulldozed and a brand new stadium will be built by the end of 2019. Now over the 30 years the stadium has had many memorable moments. Please feel free to share you favourite moments at Parramatta Stadium.

My favourite moment would have to be the very first time i went to Parra stadium, back when i was 9 years old. I remember going to a game between Parramatta and Penrith. It was the first year of me playing rugby league and attended it with my family and my coach at the time with his family. It was also the first time i ever heard the "parra" chant. I don't remember much that day regarding who scored the tries, but all i remember is having a great time sitting on the hill with family and friends and seeing at full time the eels won 64-6 ( I think i am right with the score ). It was great day sitting on the hill and one day i will never forget,

So that was my favourite moment, what was yours?

  • For me it would be the comeback against the raiders in 87 ?.. I was sitting on the try line where the raiders scored all their points and led 22-0. I still remember this loud mouth raiders fan absolutely giving it to us at halftime. Since we were lovers and not fighters we pretty much sat there and copped it. The next 40 min was one of my best memories as not only were we on that try line where all the points were scored but it felt like a thousand of us ripping into the loud mouth and watching him walkout almost in tears ... ahhhh , how beautiful it was.

  • 1v8 2005.
we were minor premiers that year. GOLD
  • The full stadium put down chant just can't be beaten the recent 'ricky' and 'benji' chants were a hell a lot of fun to be involved in.
Not only put downs the old player crys like 'Tooooks' cry rung loud and proud in the stadium.
  • Great blog burty, nice to see one from you.

One of my fav was when we beat the great britain touring side back in 90 i think it was, it was a good GB side too, awesome gutsy win.

    • 1993 I think it was. Lee Odenryn raced Martin Offiah in a footrace and beat him. We didn't hear anymore about Offiah being the fastest man in league after that.
  • Thanks a lot Mac. That night was like a terrible nightmare that was actually real.
  • World 7's win by Parramatta.
  • The day it opened and then sitting next to my Dad there for the next umpteen years
