Favourite Drummer

You will notice that the topic is favourite drummer not best. I'm sure that people might even share drummer jokes on this blog. Anyway, I'm enjoying the blogs that stray from footy at the moment and I think people have been having fun with them.So here goes: Keith Moon of The Who. Played lead drums and didn't really worry about timing. Died in his early 30s and looked about 50!Dave Grohl for a more recent nomination.Have to mention Ringo but as Lennon said, he wasn't even the best drummer in the Beatles.

    • Can't believe I didn't mention Iain Paice! Even though I wanted to be Richie Blackmore and worked to an advanced level of air guitar, http://m.youtube.com/watch?v=LCnebZnysmI
Love his drumming in this track - Burn. Not one of the noted Purple tracks because it's not the classic line up. But it's always been a fave of mine.
  • Neil Peart from Rush. He decided after 25 years of being at the top of his game that he should go and learn it all again, this time playing with his sticks held sideways, jazz style.

Danny Carey from Tool, the greatest performer of awkward time signatures I've ever heard.

Carter Beauford from Dave Matthews Band, always so energetic.
    • Awkward time signatures Tentonz?

Have a listen to Dave Weckl.

    • Ok Punk, I concede, I'll rephrase, should be "one of the greatest performers of awkward time signatures I've ever heard who plays for one of the greatest bands I've ever heard ".... Better?
  • Jason herrah
    • Who's watching X factor now?
  • Great blog! I'm a drummer myself, having played drums for over 20 years and I have to say my two favourites are Matt Sorum, formerly Guns n Roses and Rob Hurst from the Oils.
