Fat Guy Are You There?

Fat Guy I wanted to reply to you but there is something wrong--they are sorry, but can't get your page--have you paid your dues! I liked your reply to me so I have come back to by this rout. Like you I grew up in a family keen on the nags. Like your father, they won SFA also--that`s sweet fanny adams, by the way! I worked for many years in Quality Assurance in the major Telco of that time. Statistics were our daily bread. So, I think I can say that I know full well the limitations of statistics. As someone once put it: there are lies, and there are dammed lies, and there are then statistics! I don`t think I could be described as a "keen stats man" as you put it. I was just passing on some statistics on Moses from the Sun- Herald- I think it was. It is up to each individual to put their own interpretation on those stats if they feel so inclined. Should be very careful though, statistics have a good record of com ing back and biting you! One or two of the responses have got off on the wrong track but if they keep at it they will see the light. By the way, you have`nt got a good tip for the races tomorrow have you?

  • Statistics are like a g-string, they hide the good bits

  • Hey Rob how are yah brother, omg a whole blog for me.Yes mate I watched my father in law for the last 25 years omg mate you should see him I love this guy so much he gets all papers daily and also some type of almanac on the horses and each week my wife puts all his bets on for him in a tab account due to he has never driven a car and now lives in Yamba in his retirement years and too far to walk for him to sit there with 50 to 60 bets with 1 dollar here 1 dollar there each way then the line on this so many races you have to see my wife pulling her hair out when about 25 per cent of horses picked have been scratched its so Fcuking funny I laugh when his email comes in with his weekly bets.Hes not a big punter God love him just a constant contributor to Tabs growing fund..He never wins but fcuks me he never gives up to his credit he only looses about 60 to 70 bucks a week and he loves it also puts in 20 a fortnight to our footy fund and has a punt on the footytab also with no luck but he loves it so much and he uses percentages when doing the footytab also hoodoos he a big believer in them.I have played a little bit of footy throughout my life and yes stats are good for coaches and training staff but stats never tell you when your on the field and see how hard a bloke hits another bloke, reads a play to chip over cutout pass dummy etc at the blink of a eye or when you see a slight bit of hesitation in a mans eye when you run at him and start to single him out because of this and run some plays at him.So what I'm saying is yes there good and bad at some time if that makes sense.Buddy I got nothing sry when it comes to punt....I'm sending a friends request champion so my page is always visible to yah..
  • That 60% thing has appeared a few times recently. There was even an entire blog linking the fan base to that number. I think something's afoot!
  • Not quite Poppa. That's the nursing home wickedness coming out in you! I think it's like some sort of football illuminati thing going on here.
  • Ha Pops, as long as we link the Eels in somewhere. That's the key. How about "The illuminati are currently controlling world politics. Would the Eels benefit from having secret society members on the board?" How's that?
  • No idea, and I've never asked about sponsorship.
