So next week with Matterson, Paulo, Ofahengaue and Lane all back, bench and starting team is clogging up fast. The forwards obviously will be RCG, Hodgson, Paulo, Lane, Cartwright and Hopdgood. Bench being Matterson, Hands, Ofahengaue but one spot available. Now if JH is still out it i see Davey going on the bench in that 15 spot, meaning one spot still available for a middle forward, question is which one.
Ofahiki Ogden or Makahesi Makatoa. Both played roughly same amount of games; 52 & 42. But both different types of Props. Ogden is more of a hard running, barging front-rower while Makatoa is a worker. We saw tonight, Ogden barged through well, while Makatoa just got through work. Ogden did start but Makatoa got more minutes. Makatoa has only started in 2 of his 42 games, BA sees him as a bench forward that stablises the middle, while Ogden can start. Makatoa averages 93 metres per game with 93% tackle effeciency, while Ogden averages 131 metres with 94% tackle effeciency. Stats lean in Ogden's favour, even with less minutes and games overall.
In NSW cup is it the opposite, Ogden is slightly above average doing normal Prop stats for a player with NRL experience, while Makatoa when he starts plays 55-60mins and gets around 150-200 metres. He dominates. It is such a fascinating thing to me, as i see Ogden as slightly better in FG yet in NSW cup Makatoa is better. Not sure if it is being in FG that lifts Ogden, or Makatoa is more cautious and just does a job in FG compared to NSW cup.
Ogden has slightly more in his game as he does possess an offload and can also pass as first receiver, while Makatoa is simply a runner. I think BA leans towards Makatoa, he has played 42 games in three years, Ogden on 7 in 2 years, he has played all but 2 games this year, playing more minutes off the bench and his defence might be better. Plus Ogden does has an error or two in his game. Though if i was choosing, i would go with Ogden.
Once Greig returns then it falls on deaf ears as i believe Greig plays a game in NSW cup then overtakes both of them for the final bench spot.

It's a good problem to have our depth has been tested this year.
I doubt Greig will be back I've had the same break and it took a long time to overcome.
I think it might be a horses for courses situation between Oggy and Maka.
I think Moretti has also shown he is a worthwhile option.
One thing against Greig is that he will need to play some Cup beforehand, his fitness has been an issue enough as it is, with what will be 10 weeks off due to this surgery to when they say he could be back, he will need a bit of game time. You could be right Offside.
I really like Moretti on the bench
I really like Moretti too
x3 im a fanboy he's very athletic and mobile for a forward
Moretti reminds me of a young Nathan Brown
I think Ogden will drop bank. Both played better than joe ofa

I definitely can't find a spot in the 17 for Davey once everyone is back on board.
But BA will, he'll probably start him 😒😪
Davey will be ahead of Doorey, honestly i do not mind that. Davey was fine tonight, Doorey is fine too but Davey adds more in defence.
