Ex-Eel could get call-up for Eagles

Eels junior Trent Hodkinson is on the verge of making his NRL debut with Manly centre Chris Bailey in doubt for the Sea Eagles.

Bailey has a suspected broken hand and if ruled out the Sea Eagles would likely move captain Jamie Lyon back to he centres with Hodkinson moving to the halves.

Many confirmed to the Sunshine Coast Daily that Hodkinson was on stand-by.

“We’ve got a number of players and options we want to look at first,” the Manly spokesman told the
paper. “We’ll make the decision once we know a bit more today.”

Hodkinson formed a lethal halves pairing with Kris Keating in sides which won multiple junior competition. He left the Eels to join Manly but has played all of his subsequent football for the Sunshine Coast Sea Eagles where he has been one of the Queensland Cup's outstanding halves.
