Every NRL Teams Pass Mark for 2024

7. Eels: Preliminary finals

Parramatta were one of the real disappointments of the 2023 campaign, going from grand finalists the season before, to missing the top eight altogether.

Brad Arthur enters 2024 as a man under pressure - of that there can be no doubt. For years now he has had a roster that, by and large, has underperformed where it really should be.

Apart from the grand final in 2022, the Eels haven't come close to winning a competition, and you could argue that even in that campaign, they were still a long way short of the Panthers who took out the premiership.

While there is little doubt another failure to play finals football would leave plenty of doubt over the future of Arthur, in actuality, anything short of the preliminary finals is going to be viewed as an abject failure for the blue and gold who have a roster suited to high-intensity, high-end rugby league.

  • Cannot argue with that but I'd add a top4 finish.

  • Opposition fans and sections of the media can see it but for some reason most Eels fans can't see this about the bald f.....

Anything short of a premiership is a failure and the only thing that should save his ass. After 11 years it's the minimum expectation.

  • Some people sometimes feel they have gave a lot and leave on their own accord to seek out new pastures.Others will not leave and try to hold onto everything they can and eventually have to be pushed out the door...Time will tell. The best indicator is how we lose games rather than how we win games.

  • We need to make the top 2 for Arthur to be given a pass mark at this stage of his eels career.

Top 8 simply isn't good enough.   Top 4 is absolute minimum

  • We are 10th in the betting market at this early stage .

    • Oh dear, no finals again next year

  • Premiership or nothing.

Opposition fans literally love BA. They joke about wanting him to stay at Parra forever. Yet most parra fans are too delusional to see this.

    Take the hint!

    • And so do the cumbersome throw love the bush coach for reasons undisclosed

    • This

  • A roster that under performed? I think the roster has performed to its natural limit.

We don't have the roster to win the comp. We have a roster to make the 8. Add another winger, maybe top 4. Add another quality center then we are getting there.
