  • Ah well. He came to the Eels to be a starting front rower after years of playing from the bench at the Roosters. After some disappointing starts he soon found himself back on the bench and has remained there since. I'm sure the Warriors have promised him a starting spot. I hope he nails it this time. Good luck to him.

  • Yeah. Good luck to him. He came good after playing below par in his 1st season. BA has said that he was constantly injured in his 1st season. He's been great off the bench since last year keeping our intensity up. I wouldn't say he's good enough to start for a top 4 team but he's handy off the bench for 20-30 mins.

  •  I think he's a real loss. Good teams have two excellent starting props and another 2 very good ones off the bench. Think Melbourne Storm with Nelson Asofa Solomona coming off the bench to replace Jess Bromwich!

Our starting props are the best in the comp IMO and I thought Kane Evans and Kaufusi/Niukore formed that lethal replacement combo. Niukore is a fine player but who I think ought to be playing out wider - kind of in the Manu Mau mould. If his trajectory remains the same, Kaufusi will develop into a quality bench prop.

We now need to find that second quality bench prop. The kids aren't ready yet.

    James Tamou anyone?

    • Agreed we definitely need to replace Evans with another Prop of similar or better quality. The next young Eels crop isn't ripe just yet. Hetherington for me. Tamou would be awesome but he'd expect to start at his next club I'd imagine.

      • There isn’t a lot out there coming off contract, maybe Jacob Host from the Dragons. I’m not sure we can afford to let Peni Terepo walk, unless BA feels Hughes and/or Hollus are ready to step into the top 30. Even so, we’re losing Evans, Gower, Utoikamanu from our middle depth. It is a pressing need all of a sudden.

    • Tofofoa Siply  TPJ

  • He has really improved since he has been here. He came as a bench prop quality and has been starting prop quality the last two years. Good on him and hope he has a big rest of the year for us. He always looked like he would not be happy not to get a starting spot and that is a good thing. Hope he does well at the Warriors after helping us win a premiership this year

  • We could lose 5 props

    Stefano, Evans, Alvaro, Gower, Terepo

    Any news on Terepo?

    • Alvaro has an option in his favour, highly likely he’ll exercise it

      • BA's done pretty well with under-performing forwards. Just look at how good Nathan Brown, Paulo, RCG are going this year.

I'd be confident BA could turn TPJ into a weapon too. It's a yes from me Poppa!
