Enough of the crap speculation please!

I'm sure I'm not the only one here who is sick to death of hearing all of this salary cap nonsense. For months we have been fed all sorts of bullshit from a a wide range of self important, agenda based bullshit artists both in the media and on this site. Here are the facts.1. The Parramatta Eels are being investigated by the NRL for salary cap breaches.2. There are no other facts, just speculation from a conga line of self important bullshit artists.Today, to top off all of the other nonsense we have heard in recent months, the Crown Prince of Narsacism, Ray Hadley, announced that the NRL don't want the Eels to play in the finals. So we are to believe that the heirachy of the NRL are even more stupid than we suspected. In the same week that the Western Sydney Wanderers play a grand final, and at the same time as the GWS Giants are flying high in the AFL, we are expected to believe that the NRL would sabotage the season of not only the team that the most widely supported league team in the country and the team that consistently draws the highest television ratings but also and most importantly the team whose territory encompasses the area that is at threat from the rival codes.SERIOUSLY!I wouldn't dare attempt to nominate what the punishment might be as im not in posession of any facts, but what i will say is that if anyone thinks that the bosses of Channel Nine and Fox Sports an ANZ stadium, who by the way are the real bosses of the game, would allow Greenburg or anybody else to jeopardise the marketing of the game like this, dream on.

  • I don't trust The NRL to do anything for the good of the game . They've fucked everything they've done up to date so what makes anyone think they'd have the correct decision this time ?

On the flip side , let's say we make the GF , yeah we'd be happy but I wonder how many opposition fans would switch off in protest of the " cap cheats " being in the GF ? They're too dumb to realise we are compliment this year , but was our team assembled illegally ? Put the shoe on the other foot and imagine if it were Easts under investigation and copped a small points deduction and made the GF , would you be very interested in the game ?
    • True Wiz, even if the NRL clear us of any wrong doing, there will be plenty of opposition fans still think we are guilty

    • Depends on the media and which angle they want to sell it. They could victimize us and claim the cap isnt working and ultimately convince the fans of other nrl teams to take a similar stance to what you have stated. An alternative route the media could take is to convince other teams to support us as we have overcome adversity of points deductions, 2 wooden spoons and extended period with out a premiership. Alternatively trying to sell a fairy tail finish with the playing roster overcoming offield adversity.

In saying that the media hate us so theyll probably take the 1st aproach and winge creating an outburst from other fans, which absorb the media's angle like an old man swallowing a viagra tablet.
    • Have the NRL EVER got anything right in the past 10years?? So why wld their ruling on the eels be any different??
    • The NRL seem to me like politicians - living in fantasy land like everything is rosy not making any real decisions in direction where as the man on the street can see clear as day about blatant mistakes that are occurring frequently.
    • Wiz, the fans who are too stupid to realize we are compliant this year will still tune in to hope the other team beat us (which they won't-we will win the comp). We will be the new Manly and attract even more viewers as a result. Unless of course the NRL explains that RS culling all those players and us having to pay their salary at other clubs was a huge reason for being over and that losing Hayne and Sandow freed up huge cap space to sign Jennings, Scott, Foran etc . Not to mention that most of it is old news already self reported by Parramatta.

    • Go and have a look at the Bulldogs 2002 and 2004 teams and tell me how they managed to keep almost an identical team for the 2004 title? The were punished for the year in question not the future team they had.
  • I think the Foran drama took the media away from that. We haven't heard much about the cap in the past few days.
    • We haven't really had any leaks after the club allegedly had a "word" with some of the media. After that there was a lot of speculation about point deductions for a few weeks from every media outlet. The media are struggling to find something to talk about now. There have even been one or two "balanced" articles written.
It seems we may be back to the old days where a league article would only be talked about for that week- bunker, refereeing, Foran, Dank, Warriors...
  • You're last paragraph answered your own question Blaze haha . How've they treated us to date mate ? They're more likely to sell papers about the " grand final of controversy "
