Let's make it clear. I fucking hate that we are in this position. We are a dumb, immature, boring, predictable, ameteur, non-creative, depressing, weak team. It's a fact. There for all to see.
But, the human in me can't help but think about the players and the coach. Imagine what they are going through. No one likes been humiliated. No one likes losing. No one likes coping constant (and warranted) abuse. I can't imagine any team running out on to a field wanting to lose.
I've been guilty of calling out certain players and the coach in utter frustration.
But a bit of me does feel a little empathy because we are so below NRL standard.
Our team is like a primary school team with a bit of potential mixed in with a nursing home team which once had potential.
You can't scream at kids and old people right?
There's no point. No matter how hard they try, any squad higher than a high school team will always out play, out smart and physically dominate. We've heard it so many times from our team/coach that 'the effort is there' and 'the boys try hard'.
Fact is, we are just not on the same level mentally and physically. Fixing this will take a long time. We shouldn't be in this position! How much longer do we bloody have to wait? Fuck knows.

The frustrating thing for me is, we beat a world class team in the Cowboys 2 weeks ago, then come up with the rubbish we saw against Souths.
We have a reasonably young squad with no rep players. Cows have a heap of rep players and made the GF last year.
We are in an absolute mess for sure, but what the phuck is going on in Townsville?
Anyway, there will be major changes at the eels as we all expect, but if what I'm hearing is correct, not enough change.
This shitty period our club is going through is going to be longer than I expected unless what I've heard is wrong.
It would be nice to know what happened in the off season. The coach doesn't suddenly forget how to coach. The players don't suddenly forget how to play. There are obviously reasons that we fans are not privvy too, but should be.

That is a world class team which hasn't changed much since making 2nd in the most difficult rugby league competition in the world, just last season.
You know we're shit when we start comparing how shit we are against other shit teams. If you want my shit opinion I think based on expectations the golden turd needs to go the Cowboys. Then us, followed by the shit Dogs and Manly. So despite what the ladder says we are the second shittest team of 2018. We can't even win that! Shit!
We have no rep players. And we don’t produce any rep players.
Why don’t we produce our own rep players?? That’s the main problem we have. Clubs don’t buy all their rep players they actually develop them. We don’t and haven’t in forever.
We used to be able to produce them but haven’t in a long time.
Our Football Department is broken

Well Hayne player Origin too. So maybe Hayne. Years gone we’d have 3-4 in NSW Origin. Now none. That’s on the club, that’s not bad luck or bad recruitment. It’s a broken football department.
My whole family follow the Eels, my son has played footy club, as coached Div 1 , his boys played and won Div 1 comps.
We have moved across to the Penrith comp as there are more teams and is better run than the Parra Junior League. Until they do a comprehensive review of the junior league and move on the GM, who has presided over the deterioration, it will be tough to catch up. We are blue and gold in our DNA , but change is needed big time.
My daughter will not renew her tickets even at the new stadium. She said playing at the soul less empty refrigerator that is ANZ, no games prior to NRL just has made it far from a necessity to be there. Tried to persuade her, but the onfield production has had its effect.
Bernie et al, need to get recruitment as a priority, no more there aren't the players available. If that doesn't happen in the next couple of months and some excitement put back into the blue and gold, good luck to any expectations of increased memberships.
Restructure of the football dept from asst coaches to recruitment manager is necessary, it is that serious. I am a bit of a unicorn, but the sharpness has turned into a very blunt spike. Bernie, time to give the supporters some action and a statement of intent.

In the grand scheme of things, Max is above the footy. His focus is primarily financial so if fans really want to show their frustrations, IMO the only way to get a reaction is to impact the dollars. Unfortunately that means boycotting financial support & that goes against the grain of loyal fans who instinctively want to support the boys.
The hot air & bleating will be like water off a duck's back. All it will produce r meaningless platitudes.
