Embarrassing winners

This Panthers team need to be taught a lesson. They are a great team. No one can deny them that. They deserve to be winners. But I don't think in the history of professional sport have I ever seen a bunch of winners act like a bunch of arrogant losers. Even highschool football teams have more grace. They plead this tough Mt Druitt versus the world mentality but they embarrassing themselves and their supporters. Even people in Mt Druitt would be embarrassed by having these arrogant men boys, be role models for their community. Some players are even calling themselves the greatest team in Panthers history. Whch I'm sure must have raised an eyebrow from Panther greats. Ivan Cleary needs to wipe that smug smile off his face and as the head coach, teach these guys some humility. They are fast becoming the most hated team in the NRL when they have the opportunity to be the most respected.

  • They are the greatest Panthers team in history. Cleary has passed Alexander as their greatest half.
I can't speak for the good people of Mt Druitt, however I think those that support Penrith will be loving it, we know their is a stigma about the Druitt and a lot of them freel underprivileged and hard done by, they would love sticking it to the big brother Eels, the rich Roosters etc. They read stories of T'oo buying his parents a house, the way the  memory of his deceased sister inspires him every game, the island boys praying after a game.

No I disagree, why should winners hide their success and be humble in victory. If we won a title I would want our boys celebrating like crazy and sticking it to the farce that is the NRL and the so called salary cap that is exploited by clubs like the Roosters.

    • There's a way to celebrate victory but not like arrogant, boastful, disgraceful dick heads. They'll come crashing down from their little temple. As far as I'm concerned the Panthers didn't win back to back it was more the Eels lost it because of a crappy coach who didn't have his team ready. Did you watch the post match press conference with capt fancy pants and coach twiddle Dee.

      •  Tropper you can interpret the Penrith victory anyway that gets you throughout the day, but you are delusional if you don't acknowledge that Penrith are the best side in the comp and have been for 3 years and they have gone back to back.

        • I don't acknowledge they're the best team in the comp. That's my personal opinion. Yes they've won back to back premierships and have been in the last 3 Grand Finals. In saying that however, their final against the Eels last year where they won by 2 points was an extremely questionable result. The game on Sunday against Parra was more lost by a piss weak Eels team who wasn't adequately by a dud coach in my opinion. Thirdly, today's modern game is a farce in comparison with eras of the past.

What the hell does that have to do with the blog discussions? They are playing in the modern NRL as every other team is and within that game they are the best and I predict they will be the first side in the modern era to go back to back to back.
By the way, if you don't acknowledge they are the best team in the comp, then who do you regard as the best team in the comp and why?

            • Thanks for putting up that point of view MB.I didn't look at it that way but I can understand where you're coming from. The only thing that gets to me is the strong ties these guys have to religion. Maybe they will repent with a confession  when their spiritual leader will ask them about our teaching s  " what happened to love they neighbour?"

    • It is not up to them to decide who is the best team in Penrith history. That is a bad look.

But smiling and enjoying the moment, that is completely understandable.

    • They are far from humble in victory

      • And why should they be  humble? They are the best and they work hard for their success. Stuff this "Aussie" attitude of being humble in victory, shout it from the rooftops i say. Let the Eels players burn when they watch the Panthers "arrogant" celebrations, maybenit will motivate the Eels players to be a bit more ruthless and hungry.

        • You're spot on MB, they are the champions and can do as they like, everyone else can suck it up.

Our team needs to lose the humble good guy approach, we need some fire and arrogance if we want to be champions.

Maybe some History Lessons could be appropriate PF.
It seems appropriate that you have chosen Mick Ennis as your Avatar, he tends to waffle on with a pile of verbage without really saying anything!"
