Eels Web Site

I am a massive Eels fan and member like so many others and I search the internet for anything I can regarding the Eels. The off season is crap but I know everyone deserves a break so it is what it is, however come pre season I'm desperate for any info I can get and sadly the last place to look would be the Eels website because the info is so far behind what is happening, it's just not funny. I'm not kidding when I say I can check out every NRL related site as well as every news site multiple times a day looking for something about the Eels to get me through and I have no doubt there would be a lot more like me. The internet is as we all know, Instant information as that is the way of the world now but the Eels site is just so far behind with the information it provides that I open and close within seconds because there is the same story sitting there on the home page day after day. As Eels fans we are a passionate bunch and that passion needs to be fed with up to date info. It doesn't even matter what it is as long as it's about the Eels and it's something new. I don't expect rumours as I come here for that which I find entertaining in itself but the team train multiple times a week so surely some player or coaching staff interviews or as TCT dose with training reports ( they don't have to go into detail they don't want shared ) but give us something. The clubs website is by far the best way to engage with fans and members and I believe there is so much more that can be done with it.I would love to hear any idea's you have.

  • Yes Jim, I take your point.

For reasons I do not understand it seems that organisations do not seem driven to provide information because they are scared of libel or upsetting somebody.....some can remember the old saying of "any news is good news".

There is so much more we can do as a club to promote membership and interest. I am constantly pissed off by the club not offering token membership for interstate members (maybe no voting rights) that makes us a member, includes an email address and allows every communication made go to so many people. $5 would be enough for a perpetual member, how important is it for marketing purposes to have the biggest following.....I reckon we could get 100,000.

I live in Brisbane (now...was an Ermo boy), I have 8 grandchildren, I would pay for notional memberships for all of them and we would have many more members and simple email communications telling them about our club would give them a 5o/50 chance of them ending up an Eels supporter. How many indigenous people realise Parra's origins and our insignia.....we could have indigenous people all over the country seeing us as their team.... we touch on it (Darwin game) but we can do so much more. 2 development officers and a competition in every state for an indigenous member and partner/family to attend a Parra game. Its not hard to make the Parra brand national, as national as rugby league anyway.

How many supporters can we get by making Parra their 2nd team? using the same thrusts.

We can do better, I would have loved to see 1EE become the forum component of TCT but the vision is not there, Phil made it very plain it would not happen.... so be it....think small and stay small is something I have never accepted.

  • I just have 1 little point, don't put the same blog on here twice, your confusing at least 60 percent of other members on here.

    • What does it conflict with Shawn?

      • Ok just saw the duplicate, Jim probably doesn't realise its a straight duplication.....Monts or Bem can you remove it.

Alternatively Jim, go to the one with no comments and you can delete (it)the duplicate. Top left hand corner there is a green cross, you can hit on this and it gives you the opportunity to remove it.

  • Duplicate deleted
