Brilliant - oh how i have missed this
Thanks, EFL.
Glad you enjoy the stats.
Post-contact metres, whilst good, are often based on guesswork. It's too hard to gauge the precise amount of metres a player has made post-contact and if you asked 5 people to guess precisely, all 5 would come up with a different result.
So personally, I find that whilst they are useful, they're inaccurate.
Basically as accurate as you're going to find, Alastair.
I corroborate these with numerous platforms and systems to ensure and spend hours comparing the stats to ensure full accuracy.
And I re-watch the game at least three times to make sure and jot down each individual play and everything that happened within the play.
Also, the key is not to confuse a missed tackle with an ineffective tackle.
i'd like to know how many HU and AR were made outside of opposition red zone. our average run stats obviously were impacted by being camped in their 20 setting up for backline plays. i'd like to know how dominant we were up the hey diddle diddle
That's obviously not a recorded stat as such and would utilise much guesswork.
I can look to implement it in future games and stats blogs if you so wish but I can't ensure it's accuracy given the magnitude of all the other stats and the fact that I don't have anywhere else to compare it with to ensure it's all corroborated.
Thanks Ricky, good read as always.
Thanks, Snake.
