Eels To Start Pre-Season In Seattle

Tue 28th October, 03:45PM

Eels players will spend eight days in Seattle training, visiting the Seahawks’ NFL facilities and the University of Washington and its successful football side, the Huskies.

The trip will include attending the Seattle Seahawks v New York Giants NFL game at CenturyLink Field, and watching the Huskies take on UCLA in football and Saint Martin’s University in basketball.

“The Seahawks have one of the greatest training facilities in the NFL, and to be able to spend some time there as a team will be a fantastic start to our pre-season as we get ready for 2015,” Eels Head Coach Brad Arthur said.

“I’m looking forward to seeing how they operate, and I’m sure we will get a lot of value out of the trip.”

The Eels players will be put through state-of-the-art training, including upper body strength and power testing, anaerobic testing and maximal aerobic speed tests.

In addition, the Eels’ executive team and staff will visit Seattle’s Major League Baseball team, the Mariners, and the Major League Soccer team, the Sounders, and meet with a number of Seattle-based companies, including Microsoft, Amazon and Boeing.

“Not only is this trip a great opportunity to see how these elite clubs train and operate, it will also be a great way for our players to bond before coming home and continuing their pre-season training,” Eels CEO Scott Seward said.

“We’re looking forward to experiencing the club culture at the Seahawks, Huskies, Sounders and Mariners and we hope to be able to bring plenty of learnings back home with us.”

Players and staff will leave for Seattle on Monday November 3 and return to Parramatta on Wednesday, November 12.

"Did Smith hint at 2016 Return for Jarryd ?"

that Haynes "defection" was a marketing exercise for the sea hawks. Stay tuned for more of these type of stories.
My other prediction was it was to free up cap space to sign Foran.
Signing Watmough is part of that plan. Onwards and upwards!
  • Will tomorrow's news be that the Parramatta Eels are folding as an NRL team to try their hand as an NFL franchise?
    • LA!! They don't have a team. Los Angeles Eels.
  • 'and meet with a number of Seattle-based companies, including Microsoft, Amazon and Boeing.'

Are the Eels trying to snare a new major sponsor?

  • This high tech training is for people who think that you need all new shiny weights, and fancy equipment to succeed.Back when I was a weightlifter in the 80s ,we always used to bitch about how crap our equipment was. Then our coaches would tell to stfu and how in Bulgaria, their gyms were so primitive ,lifters would have to share shoes and weight belts, yet they were lifting 3 times the amounts we were, simply because of their desire to succeed, excellent coaching, oh and shit-loads of steroids.

  • Yep,that's a great video.Unless you need a special bar and weights, as required for Olympic Weightlifting, where the bar is an integral element of the sport, any equipment will do.Old tyres, kettle bells,Persian clubs or even dragging a truck.

"He got wider in attack, particularly towards Mam side of the field that helped him poke the nose through and make metres. Brisbane were back peddling the whole second half bar one set on our own line where Samrani stayed down and Reynolds went off."

"De Belin looked way better in his 2nd stint. But his sole purpose is defence, in that portion of the game where Brisbane middles tried to wrestle back momentum in the middle he was solid in defence. "
