Eels Teamsheet vs Titans: Burt to fullback

PIRTEK Eels try-scoring Luke Burt will wear the No. 1 jersey in place of the suspended Jarryd Hayne against the Gold Coast Titans at Parramatta Stadium this Sunday.

Burt is no stranger to the position, showing outstanding form during the first 17 rounds of the 2007 season before copping a season ending knee injury, plus for all but the last five rounds of 2008. He last played there regularly for the first seven rounds of 2009 when Hayne was at five-eighth, before being switched to the wing when Hayne became the regular fullback and hit a Dally M-winning stretch of form.

Jordan Atkins, who missed last Friday night’s clash with the Bulldogs because of a minor leg injury, returns to the side on the wing to play against his former side in the only other change to the 17. Carl Webb, who missed the Bulldogs match, is on the five-man interchange bench (one to be omitted).

  • I can't believe that Etu is constantly named in our 1st 17.  He's just not good enough!!!  He spent most of Friday's game 5m behind Reddy in the defensive which allowed the Dogs left hand side attack to make significant metres that they wouldn't have achieved had he not allowed the space.

Whilst I don't want to promote Dad's Army, Hick or Walker would do a much better job on the wing than this chump.  Not happy.

I would've preferred that SK took a risk and promoted Barba to fullback and Atkins to the left wing in place of Etu....

  • no doubt SK will change the line up before kick off
  • Billy Rogers.........OMG
  • I dnt like this billy rogers guy
  • I won't be holding my breath waiting for Webb to run onto the field. *sigh*

Looks like SK is going for McGuire as an 80 min player tho.

Either that or have an extra enforcer on the field for a while if McG rested?

  • I think Etu is doing allright. He's getting more comfortable at first grade level, and he's obviously got these next two games to battle it out with Atkins. Plus I get to put up the E-TU chant again...

  • I would make 5 changes before 2pm Sunday.
  • I got no dramas with Etu keeping his place in the side.

He is not the reason we can't score points or maintain field position and pressure by kicking deep (and in to space) in to the opposition 20

  • I would much rather see Carl Webb on the wing than ThETU.

Guess I am going to have to live with my displeasure tho.

    • Etu...just speaking to other eels fans, he suffers in the opinion of fans, from being not exactly the most elegant looking winger in the game. In fact at times he looks clunky and clumsy: witness his tackle on Manu, round 1. And I admit, at times he looks a little lost but he seems to be improving and he is in there having a go. But he ain't no Rolls Royce on the wing there. Not exactly known for his silky footwork and magic hands. But I saw him have a real dig in recent games.
