Eels Teamsheet vs Sharks (R10)

Injured stars return for Cronulla clash

Parramatta Eels Round 10 debutant Tom Humble will get his second chance in the NRL this Saturday when the Eels take on the Cronulla Sharks at Parramatta Stadium at 7.30pm.

The North Queensland product debuted in the halves for the Eels in their win against Manly last round but with usual custodian Jarryd Hayne away on State of Origin duty with the New South Wales Blues, Humble will take the no.1 jersey for Round 11.

Centre Timana Tahu is also out of this match on representative duty with the Blues, giving Eric Grothe the chance to make his comeback from an arthroscopy on his knee.

Grothe has not played since the Eels’ Round 6 win over the South Sydney Rabbitohs and joins Kris Keating in making a return from injury.

Centre Jonathan Wright joins an extended bench.

Coach Daniel Anderson is happy to welcome some of his injured stars back into the side.

“It’s great to have both Eric and Kris back for this game with our Origin boys now away on rep duty,” Anderson says.

“Tom joins the side again after a solid debut has meant he has done enough to retain his spot in the NRL side, this time at fullback.”

  • good looking side
    • I'm a bit worried about Grothe back in the side. I would have left Inu on the wing and bring Jono wright into the centres
  • anyone know where Karl Filiga is?
    • Iv'e heard he's been out of the team due to personal reasons. Couldn't tell you how long he will be out for though. It's a shame because by all reports he looked a class above in Reggies as well, but will now take a while to get going again.
  • I think the fact that Jono wright is on the extended bench means there is some worry that Grothe will not be quite right - if so I expect Wright to play on the wing in his stead.
    • id think more likely wright to take tahus spot in the centres and inu and reddy to sty settled on their side
  • Is this the official side or your assumption phil??
  • im surprised that jono wright didnt get the nod above Humble, but im excited to see how he goes against a lower team in his prefered position.

i think he will kill it.
how strong is our depth in the backs...fkn amazing.
    • Maybe Michael gave us the answer to that BBG.
If Grothe doesn't play Jono is in like Flynn.
Saves a lot of stuffing around and shows Humble that DA is fair dinkum about givving him a fair crack at first grade.
The kid has got be on a high after last nite so keep his confidence up by letting him know he can be a part of the team.
Jono knows his time will come when Inu is gone.
    • His preferred position is in the halves bbg not like the media advertises!
