Parramatta have tabled Keaon Koloamatangi a monster four-year offer in a bid to prise the representative forward out of South Sydney.

The Roosters are also monitoring the situation, given forward Angus Crichton is off contract and considering a switch to rugby at the end of next season. Perth also inquired about 27-year-old Koloamatangi’s plans, but were told he wants to remain in Sydney.

However, the Eels are shaping as a genuine threat to South Sydney’s bid to retain the former NSW and Tonga star. Sources not authorised to speak publicly told this masthead the Eels have weighed in with a four-year offer worth seven figures a season.

Parramatta officials, including coach Jason Ryles, have met with Koloamatangi and his manager.

        • That's fine, thats why I said subjectively...... you identified 2 18-20 year olds again subjectively.....I think you miss my "investment decision" of alternatives as being the principle of my post.

I can maybe recommend a "stock" to you for $5 and you say I think "X" stock  is better value at $2.50 and I can buy twice as much! MY subjective opinion is fine, I just don't see the same value at $2.50.

PS The market is telling you that via the actual prices of 5 and 2 1/2 respectively. The market invariably gets it wrong but in the end the market always wins.......just the investor that loses.

Our cost of funds are zero by the way, but it is the opportunity you are pricing!

          • I did understand what you meant mate, I started writing a response but thought it was taking too long.

I see value in 2 x 18-20yr old Potential Rep Forwards at $500k a season, you see better value in 1 x Rep Forward at $900k a season...... we all see or value risk in different ways, thats life.

I may have been a bit outrageous in saying $500k a season, it was just an example but I would rather spread my risk over a few baskets instead of just in one.

Imagine if we have to wait until 2027 to get our hands on this Rep forward who in 2026 could do his ACL or Rupture his Achilles, then we could have to wait until 2028 to see our $900k a season player...... This is the type of risk I'd like to avoid.

            • Fair enough, everything is subjective and I have enjoyed the discussion.

              • I'm sure he hasn't...ffs

"I want him for 800k. But looks like it will be $1M. I agree we need an alpha forward but he is not worth that money. Our forward pack depth is going to be very strong regardless of Kolomantagi so I am not worried about that."

"Prop is his best spot. he does not have the passing game to play lock. I do not think people realise how good our forward depth is going be in 2027. Just need to ensure we have that alpha forward (Kolomantangi)."
