Parramatta have tabled Keaon Koloamatangi a monster four-year offer in a bid to prise the representative forward out of South Sydney.

The Roosters are also monitoring the situation, given forward Angus Crichton is off contract and considering a switch to rugby at the end of next season. Perth also inquired about 27-year-old Koloamatangi’s plans, but were told he wants to remain in Sydney.

However, the Eels are shaping as a genuine threat to South Sydney’s bid to retain the former NSW and Tonga star. Sources not authorised to speak publicly told this masthead the Eels have weighed in with a four-year offer worth seven figures a season.

Parramatta officials, including coach Jason Ryles, have met with Koloamatangi and his manager.

        • Gus Gould negotiations over a succulent Chinese meal seem to always get his man.

MON and Ryles need to start taking them to Tingha Palace

      • Gould hasn't met him.

    • Every player says money is not a factor when it is 95% the only factor .

  • With the foundation Ryles is building at the club and the upward trend, pretty big chance we land him 😂

  • If we miss out everyone will say the front office failed again, but if the roosters really are interested their $750k on the cap topped up by TPAs will be greater than our $1million offer and it isn't really the front office fault.

It is pretty easy choice between roosters and Eels knowing the roosters can stack their team to support him. Comparing our sides Roosters are a lot stronger and better chance of premiership along with business connections for life.

If he resigns with rabbits it shows it is easier to keep players than buy them from elsewhere especially if resigning over an approach from Roosters.  As shown with Iongi signing an extension, Ryles is on the right path with his rebuild with youth. It isn't often high level rep stars leave the club their at unless they are offered ridiculous money, there is bad blood between player and club or coach or they are moving home closer to family etc.

    • Well another thing is Keaon i believe prefers to play on an edge, Roosters can offer that.

      • If that's true he can play 80 on the edge and Jack Williams in the middle. Would be a monster pack. Prob big Junior off bench?

        • wow! that would be an amazing pack!

      • LB, keon prefers Front row over Back rower or lock.   Thats a fact

        • Lock is where he should be

The thing is we think the world of Matt Cameron now, and so do I. But have a look at what we said about Matt Cameron back in 2012. He was "rubbish" and a reason our juniors were stuffed.…"
