It looks like to me like the Eels have a different playing style each week.
Based on last weeks effort, Canberra to my mind, have the most boring attacking game I have seen from any team this year.
Sure they are tough and physical but that's not what fans want to see. There were a few offloads but it was mainly one out stuff.
But the eels played the same style of footy. If both teams swapped jerseys you couldn't tell the difference between the two sides. The outside backs and wingers barely saw the ball. They didn't start to throw the ball around until the last 20 mins.
Against the Roosters last night, they did throw the ball around but there was no one running off any of the forwrads when they did make progress up the middle.
The Eels have scored some great trys this year but it seems to me that they can't seem to replicate the strategies that lead to these trys.
There are also seems to be lapses in concentration at key times. When Jordan Rapana dived over from dummy half for a Raiders try, Gutherson and another eels player were laying on the ground in the play the ball.
The simple fact of the matter too,is that those teams that were well out of the eight a month or so ago. Teams such as Manly and Cronulla, are now either in the eight or
just out of it. They have improved immeasurably and the competition is much tighter than it was.
The skill gap has closed.
