The Parramatta Eels have landed a significant signing coup prior to June 30 with Panthers centre Waqa Blake set to join the blue and golds on a four and a half year deal.

The Eels have been on the hunt to bolster their outside backs and front row forwards and Blake will provide some much-needed strike power out wide.

Blake is currently sidelined until around the round 20 mark with a grade three medial ligament tear to his knee.

The Panthers are in the midst of a roster overhaul under new coach Ivan Cleary following the departure of club king pin Phil Gould.

  • Wow great signing if legit. Definitely a modern age player with size strength and pace

    • This was legit sign sealed and delivered four weeks ago.

Anyone else miss my blog.? Damn

      • Virtual beer and pat on the back from me, Coney!

  • 4 years is a year too long.

    • Good signing, but I'm with you Snake. This seems to be a recurring theme: We either pay overs, or give an extra long deal, or both, to land the signature of players. This is probably symtomatic of the status of the club with the turmoil that has played out over the past 10 or 15 years.

    • That’s how long his contracted to Penrith for Snake. They will be paying part of his contract with us until he is off contract again.

      • Ok. Fair enough then.

        • Yep club has played it smart. Signed him for the duration of his Penrith deal so Penrith fork out most of the $$$ till then.

      • Yeh, if we've got him for four years but not at full freight it'd essentially be the value of a three year deal anyway. At 24 he'd be coming into his peak.

        • it seems he on a 4 year contract at penrith, what will parra pay?
