Parramatta have announced 11 players will be leaving the club as the Eels look to freshen up their roster after coming up short in another finals series.

David Gower is retiring to take up a role in the club's education and wellbeing team while fellow forward Peni Terepo has decided to take a break from the game and "will look to re-evaluate his footballing future in the coming months", according to the Eels statement.

Kane Evans is joining the Warriors and Stefano Utiokamanu is off to the Wests Tigers while Jai Field, Andrew Davey, Rhys Davies, Jaeman Salmon and Brad Takairangi will not have their contracts renewed.

Development squad members Watson Heleta and Kyle Schneider have also been released.

  • PLEASE, can't we go back to 2016 and start again.

Good to see Gowie remaing active within the club and that is the only good news from this imo.

    • BA leaving him out of side was madness. Lane and Matterson off the boil. Now Gower would make an excellent assistant coach especially to a good coach. Can read a game too  sadly lacking at Eels.

      • Sorry Ms Arthur, my bad - we are saved because according to rumours we are replacing these ELEVEN players with THREE.

I have never said our bench is crap in my entire life - please get back on your meds.

In fact the ONLY comments I have ever made about our bench is the stoopidity of our Illustrious U8s Bush Caoch's rotation of same.

    • If you are hinting that we may have missed our "window" i hope you are wrong in thinking that. Geez I don't want to see us go through another 5 or so years of missing the 8 or worse getting the spoon all the time.

  • Wasn't everyone talking up Kyle Schneider as the next big thing?

      • Probably a sign that we are a done deal with Peats

        • We must be reopening the Eels Retirement Home again.

Peats has peaked and now a non entity - but hey, Bushy loved him and that is why Peats became the Sacrificial Lamb in '16.

        • Rookie.? The real rookies are the lame brains that run our club, almost 3 & a 1/2 decades premiership drought, 14 'spoons' one out of six finals wins in the last seven yrs, 11 players cut from the roster = a possible dumb recruitment drive again (maybe) Apart from the ''golden yrs'' 76 to 86 there has been drama after drama, and the 'lows'' far outweigh the ''highs'' in that time. Sorry for being so critical Pop, are we entering another ''rebuildind'' phase again, ''did someone say again lol. 2021 will be interesting.

          • You don't get many right robert, but you nailed this one.

            • Thanks, but what p*sses me off on here is the twerps that factor family into discussions in a negative way and wish death on some members, yet they are still on here, a few years ago i was banned because i said Bevan French has twiggy legs, he needs to build them up, i mean wtf.? These others say far more nasty things and they are still here.??
