Eels sack Anderson

Parramatta Eels sack Daniel Anderson as coach at emergency meetingBy Phil RothfieldSeptember 26, 2010Parramatta Eels have sacked embattled coach Daniel Anderson at an emergency board meeting tonight. The meeting - originally scheduled for Tuesday night - was brought forward 48 hours after news of his likely dismal was leaked to the media over the weekend.Parramatta is expected to issue a statement shortly to confirm his sacking and will begin negotiations shortly to sign Melbourne Storm's assistant coach Stephen Kearney. His sacking follows an internal review conducted by CEO Paul Osborne and board members Geoff Gerard and Glen Duncan, who is also chief executive of the club's major sponsor Pirtek.Duncan earlier broke from boardroom protocol to reveal his opinion that Anderson should be replaced by Kiwi coach Stephen Kearney."I think the position is untenable for Daniel to stay," Duncan said."Daniel's a good guy. I think he's had a hard time, but sometimes you've got to make these decisions for the club to move forward."Anderson has been at the helm of the Eels for just two seasons. After being brought back to Australia from coaching St Helens in England last year, Anderson took Parramatta to the grand final. This year the Eels finished 12th.

  • Well thats that... lets move forward.
Ando the very best of luck mate, you are a champion.
  • DA you are a political scapegoat. I never saw you miss a tackle, drop a ball or fall off a tackle or show little or no respect for the once proud Parra Jersey.

KEARNEY better be an instant success or you will be gone within 2 years too...... NEXT.....
  • I really hope it is only up from here.
  • guys next year will be building up relationships with players and board and coach once hindy and hayne work out there differences nothing will change, the problem with hayne is he wants hindy an co to do all the work and hindy wants hayne to work more
  • who said hindy and hayne have differences?
  • If the Kearney appointment turns out to be true hopefully when he was interviewed earlier in the year, questions about supposed structures......future short/mid/long term plans were asked. It seems NRL clubs don't seem to do that unlike NRL franchises who quite regularly have 4+ hour interviews for proposed coaches.
  • well its confirmed and i dont know what to think right now.

if it is kearney im a tad worried but at least he will employ bellamys style and structure into making a player comitted
  • Yep .. well he has two years to show his worth then...
  • i know eelcentric trust me
    • I find it hard to believe that Hayne and Hindy have any differences to sort out.
