Eels Ready To Pull Gordon Deal

I've always been a fan of Gordon and even though he's getting on I still reckon he's got plenty to offer... not to mention the fact that we desperately need a quality fullback. To get him over before June 30 would be ideal, I hope Cronulla wake up to themselves.

Parramatta coach Brad Arthur admits it's unlikely there'll be an offer for Cronulla fullback Michael Gordon if he doesn't arrive at the NRL club by June 30.

An off-contract Gordon reportedly agreed last week to switch camps and sign a long-term deal to be the new Eels fullback, however the Sharks pulled out of the deal at the 11th hour.

Arthur says he hasn't given up hope of landing the former State of Origin star, but conceded the club might have to look elsewhere to shore up their roster.

"It's looking unlikely," he said on Friday.

  • You would pisssed at the Sharks if you were in Gordon's shoes.
    • He's furious. I've recently discovered Gordon is a mate of a mate and he was saying Gordon is absolutely ropeable. He's got a young family to look after and the Parra deal was really good, with the opportunity to play 80 minutes at fullback. At the moment he's not even averaging half a game on the wing at the Sharks, they should seriously stop being wankers and let the poor bloke look after himself.

    • Gordon needs to chat with the CEO. The CEO stopped it because he was out of the loop on the deal which is fair enough. However if Gordon can convince the Sharks CEO that he's still the boss and make him feel empowered, he might see reason and grant the release.
Otherwise the p1ssing match between CEO and Flanagan will continue.
  • Yeah no way to treat a player.but then again they tried to cheat the drug system
  • LOL only the eels would be excited by the potential signing of this wood duck...................the bloke is done and dusted, offers little on the field these days, father time has well and truly caught up with him.

Ive said it here before and ill say it again, whoever is responsible for recruitment and retention at eels needs to be shown the door pronto. Absolute joke how no young up and comers of genuine talent have been brought thru from the eels massive and well respected junior nursery, who the fekk makes the decisions in this joint? The fact that the eels line up is for the most part riddled with Dads army type players, journeymen and genuine nuffies speaks volumes of where this club is and has been for a long time.

You're up to your upteenth coach in a relatively short period  of time, not surprisingly Eels still find themselves as lost as ever on the park, the board still fractured and fighting, more whispers about the coach and if there is genuine belief and support in his system and structures, have the wheels fallen off for the last time?.....prob not, but the eels are crying out for genuine leadership from someone, anyone........The continued desire to sign old heads for 1st team action will only send you back further than where you already find yourself.

    • x2

    • The fact remains we need a fullback until Bevan French is ready for first grade and Gordon fills the gap. Hardly backwards.

Speaking of recruitment, how's Jacob Loko working out for you? Are you paying the pisshead to play footy or brawl in the street and get arrested for driving while drunk? Astute acquisition that one.

    • Hey top bog , u are 100 percent right , we need to take a leaf out of the Bulldogs book , we need to learn rort the salary cap , learn to bite , trip , and assault people , seemed to work for the dogs
    • I hate myself for saying this but for once I'm in complete agreement with the mangy mutt.
  • To say that the club is angry with the Sharks is an understatement. The worst part has been Flanagans denial about the deal being done. That has Parra incensed.
